The traditional pan-fried cod with scrunchions was delicious and my husband really liked his lasagne too. Vio was more than happy to make substitutions for my mother's food sensitivities.The name of this place is too unassuming for its character. Vio has created a South American Cafe ambience with a menu of traditional Newfoundland dishes. The only nod to her native land was the cod tacos. Sadly the Ontario party earlier in the day had cleaned her out of the pineapple salsa, so I could not substitute for the scrunchions. The food here has not disappointed. The onion rings are to die for.Service is great. Atmosphere is nice(water jugs are a nice touch) but surprising when you look at the outside first. The music is sweet too and nice to not hear blaring radio music while your having a conversation. Too bad they are on the water but dont take advantage of the view. I gave 4 stars because i wasnt a fan of their desert. I think its shipped in. Nothing says fancy restaurant like home made desert. As soon as i hear its homemade i have to order. I will be going back to this restaurant.
This is a very charming little restaurant. The decor in the dining room is very well done, bright and clean. We were given menu recommendations from the owner according to our likes. My husband is not a seafood fan, and found he had good choices. The menu is based on Newfoundland traditional foods, and tweaked to make them fine dining quality. Questions were answered honestly regarding the menu as we were not always familiar with the choices. Very well done!! This was by far the best restaurant we found during our 2 week Newfoundland vacation.
I have been twice. Each time I ordered the cod bites. Totally delicious. Fresh cod, delicate and crispy batter. Hand cut fries, called chips here, crispy and flavorful to the end. Nice wines. Exceptionally clean. Friendly, attentive owners and staff. One owner offered my Mom and Dad more chips. Who does that? We were impressed. This place is so much better than Chafe's Landing. I recommend this place and I will come here next visit, for sure'

Visited Newfoundland and talked to some locals and asked them about traditional foods etc.. A very nice couple in Kelligrews told me to come to this location and order the Skeet Special. The server laughed and said they do not have this on the menu so that was disappointing but the food I did order was amazing.
I very rarely give five stars, so be certain it was worth it.Service was fantastic our server was very friendly and beyond professional. Had the fish & chips; fish was fried to perfection without a speck of grease. Juicy and flakey that cod must have Ben caught before we walked in that fresh.Will be back
It wasn't just the superb fish tacos, or the magnificent seafood chowder - it was the entire package of excellent, genuine customer service with warm smiles and the knowledge that this passion is from the heart. Loved every bite and every moment - can't wait to be back!
We've eaten here several times and have had good experiences. Get the fish and chips! If you're local and want take-out, you can place an order and they'll call back when it's ready for pick up. The service is great as is the food.

Light beer batter, great with the fresh fish, accidentally added fries to my girlfriends meal free of charge, very friendly staff, small but cozy interior, exterior could have a great view... Maybe in the future, Closed on Mondays!
I ordered the fish tacos and they were amazing, the service was excellent. I miss the freshly made salsa we used to get while waiting for our order. This is a great place to go for a quiet dinner.
