Worst service I’ve ever encountered. The server (I don’t know his name because he was never at our table) provided VERY limited service to our table. He introduced himself to us and took our beverage drinks, and did not return to our table until he was handing us our checks. He never checked in on us, refilled our waters, asked us for additional food or beverage orders, etc. My food was disappointing and border-line chilled/cold. The server assistant and manager were very attentive and helpful, but the server provided very bad service that ruined our experience at Bar Buca. Actually visited the Eglinton location for pastry and coffee. Two pastries, two coffees, a bill total of $19 and change including HST. A guideline for tipping seems to be rounding off the HST which in this case would amount to around $3. Gave the waiter $25 and waited for change, which was never forthcoming. Not to make a fuss in front of my guest, we left. Now I'm fully aware I am only talking about $2 difference, but how does a wait staff assume a tip of nearly 30%?
Stopped in for cocktails and dessert, was not disappointed. Cute, small patio. Our waitress just joined the Buca team and was a pleasure to be served by. She was smiling, knowledgeable, took the little jokes, and dealt with a small complaint in a professional manner. Her co-server was just as pleasant and the bartender ensured my cocktail was perfect. Small dessert bites, great for trying everything on the menu. We will be back!
Italian food is difficult to do right with this place being one of the few that truely does Italian cuisine properly. The portions are quite generous so come hungry. The salads are very unique and worth trying. The cold cut appetizers are one of the best.
