Bbq Joe's Country Cooking

Ordered ribs and brisket. The positives: Both were very tender, fork tender. The portion of meat was among the largest I 've ever received at a restaurant. The hot barbecue sauce was one of the best I 've found. The negatives: both the ribs and brisket had a slight smoke taste, it almost seemed like both had been partially smoked and partially steamed in the oven. The ribs had NO noticeable char marks that come from smoking. The brisket had that red smoke ring, but tasted more like a pot roast than smoked brisket. While you want some juice from the meat, the brisket had quite bit of very watery liquid which, again, leads me to believe the meat had been steamed as much as it had been smoked....

Being a Texan on the road for work isn't always easy. I'm not a BBQ snob, but I've definitely been disappointed a fair number of times as I travel to other states. Not this time! BBQ Joe's was great. The staff was very nice and helpful. I was kind of on the fence about the sweet potato casserole, but a recommendation from the staff sealed the deal and holy carp, it was fantastic. Beans were really good too. Sides alone won't get it done though, if you're going to a BBQ joint it's all about the meat and bbqJs delivers. I had the chopped brisket. I've had a lot of brisket in my day, and this was legit. Portion size was great, sauce was on point, but most importantly the meat was simply fantast...

Best barbecue I believe around better than Lexington area. Ham biscuits are great and the chicken is really good along with baked beans. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
