Over the the years this lovely countryside pub has been a regular place for my family to celebrate special occasions, impromptu meals out and a go to for the odd pint. My husband and I decided to have an evening meal last Saturday, for the first time ever we were very disappointed. I had curry of the day which was really watery... I 've had better £1 frozen bargain meals... Sided with chips that I 'm quite sure had been served 3 times previous... My husbands pie described on the menu as 'buttery melt in your mouth pastry ' was like old Rhinos skin that had basked for hours in a sandy desert, disgusting. I 'm so so disappointed and can honestly say my family won 't be returning for any specia...
Iv said it before and il say it again, we are so so lucky to have this pub as our local, we have come this evening for food both having the curry of the day which was lamb rogan Josh, WOW!! Absolutely incredible, all meals we have had here have been 10/10. Hearty home cooked meals, we always leave satisfied We have lived in Pentre Halkyn for just over 4 years, the pub has had several owners, but since Sarah took over earlier in the year, we have to say she’s turned the place around for the better! We love coming here! Sarah runs the pub but also is the sole chef fantastic cook! Big shout out to Sarah and her team for creating such a warm friendly environment for all! X
On our way to our overnight accommodation, we stopped by this pub for dinner. We weren't aware that they stopped serving at 6:00pm, but luckily the chef agreed to serve us when we arrived at 5:48pm. We both had the turkey roast dinner, which was delicious. We are grateful to the chef for accommodating us with a meal so late in the day.
Had to order and pay at the bar and drinks a bit if a pain anyhow we ordered I had mine had to go back it wasn’t hot it was warm /cold plate staff a bit rude the gammon was not very tasty either and I counted 5 chips oven chips not proper chips and the pie we counted couple pieces of meat disappointed all decor still the same no change
