As a child I always thought Cannelloni and Lasagne were basically the same, only stopping at the lasagna are the noodle plates and the Cannelloni simple tubes until the old master Da Domenico in Landau just explained the big difference 20 years ago. The raw filling is introduced into the uncooked tube noodles on the cannelloni, which are then placed in a run-up mold and baked for at least 25 minutes in the oven. The lasagna uses cooked chops for which the sauce is cooked at least 3 hours before, but the whole is finished after 10-12 minutes in the oven. So much for theory.
