We moved to Ottawa 1 year ago and being vegan have struggled to find a good healthy dining experience. We happened to walk by Habesha and decided to try it for lunch. Since then, we have been frequenting it almost every 2 weeks. The staff are very friendly and the food is superb. We have eaten in many Ethiopian restaurants in both Canada USA. This one is by far the tastiest and healthiest. Nothing worse than your food swimming in oil. If you are vegan, try the vegetarian platter (which is all vegan) to give you a good idea what to order next time you dine here. The bar menu and food prices are beyond reasonable. I have had Ethiopian food only a few times and it has always been a good experience. The food from this place reminded me of food from a loving home’s kitchen. As strange as that sounds, it is how the food tasted like. Everything was seasoned well and great quantity too. Just the right amount of spice. I opted for carry out and the staff were extremely nice despite me just having a couple of minutes worth of interaction. It’s hard to make an impression in that timeframe but somehow these guys nailed that too. I am definitely looking to returning back, hopefully for dine-in next time around. Great job guys!
I haven't had Ethiopian in 4 years, so when I had to come to Ottawa today I jumped on the chance to have my favourite meal. The habesha platter. I tell you the food was amazing along with the service. My daughter asked for a chocolate milk and they didn't have any, but the server said I will go over to Tim hortons and grab you one on me. I was in awww that someone would actually do that for my daughter. The next time or anytime I am in Ottawa I will be coming here. You will not be disappointed. If I had 100 thumbs they would all be up. Thank you Habesha for satisfying my Ethiopian craving.
My partner and I went here for supper. We were greeted promptly, our waitress was very friendly, food came out quickly and it was delicious! We each got a platter. Afterwards we had tea and coffee which had a wonderful presentation. Will definitely be coming back.
