Ingleby Arms - Table reservation

visited for a Sunday dinner when we arrived, no one greeted us at the door, we had to get the attention of a barmaid. we got pretty fast soaked and were asked what meat we wanted our tellers were brought out with meat and. yorkshire pudding and a piece stopped then we were going and getting our own vege and gravy. there was a choice of 4 veg, but all over cooked, lukewarm and swimming in water, so not attractive at all. few kartoffels in the dish I suspected were bratkartoffeln, but actually greased fried, a big barrel gravy. to be honest, the gravur and the yorkshire pudding was the best part (not homemade, which is good), but the meat was kept clear warm or reheated, the veg was not fresh....

My wife and I decided to treat ourselves to a Saturday dinner and since we had a great experience at this restaurant before the pandemic, we made a reservation. We arrived on time and after grabbing a drink at the bar, we were seated at our table within minutes. Our waitress was very helpful in recommending a red wine since there was no current wine list available. We ended up doing a wine tasting with two reds and it worked out well. Although the carvery was an option, we both opted for the mixed grills from the menu with garlic mushrooms to start. It would have been a shame not to finish with a dessert and coffee. The restaurant wasn't full, but there was a steady flow of diners throughout...

so disappointed. we have booked for a party of six people and arrived 15 minutes before the booked time, so expected a waiting time, but we waited an hour and a half time behind our booking to take place. No one came to see us. to excuse us or to update us on our waiting, we had to ask what is going on. we appreciate that it is difficult when it is busy, but an hour and a half is not acceptable. three of our party were traveled by hull, including our 90-year-old mother. we left and went to another place.

I have been to this restaurant for over two years but never tried their carvery before. I was excited to finally have one, but unfortunately, I was disappointed. The meat was pre-cut and reheated in a microwave, making it dry and chewy. The Yorkshire puddings and bratkartoffeln were frozen, and the carrots were either undercooked or overcooked. The only highlight was the gravy. This was my first time trying the carvery in two years, and I won't be returning anytime soon.

Lovely home cooked food in a nice atmosphere pub always busy with a warm and friendly service would always highly recommend this pub. Would be nice to see it reopen in the lunch time
