I have been a regular diner at Paninoteca for sometime now. It is usually a weekly stop for a sandwich and salad, always eaten at one of the tables in the restaurant. The service in this place is personal. After coming several times I began to feel apart of the Paninoteca family. Despite how busy the place can be, the service is always prompt and quick. As you come through the door there is a sign saying they have the best veal sandwich in the city... well I think all their sandwiches are the best in the city. Paninoteca was recommended to me about 2 years ago. The best veal sandwich around I was told. Finally bit into that veal sandwich with some sweet red peppers today. Delicious!! Melt in your mouth veal on a crusty fresh bun with just enough tomato sauce so the bun doesn't get soggy. I've had a lot of veal sandwiches over the years and this one is up there with the best. The portion is large but not too large to eat at one sitting. The menu also features porchetta and prime rib sandwiches. Those are for another day. Lots of pastas available. Went for lunch with friends who had been several times and raved about this little sandwich restaurant. It was truly a gem in a small plaza on Upper James. Sandwiches are large, enough to share or take half home for dinner. Italian bread is wonderful. There are several options for fillings. The porchetta was very tasty as was the chicken. Service was very good. Order at the counter and your sandwhich will be delivered to your table. This is a cash only shop.
I've had so many meals here I can't count, the sandwiches are to die for and the buns come in fresh every day! Not only is the food amazing but you can't find a more pleasant, happy group of people to serve you. I hope you never sell out and the family tradition moves on, Hamilton needs these exact kinds of restaurants!
