This little bakery/portuguese restaurant is nestled at the corner of 93 st and 118 ave in Edmonton. Having just recently returned from Portugal, a trip to refresh my recent experience was in order. This is a bakery, small restaurant, and mini grocery store all packed in together. Arriving mid afternoon, only a couple of others were here. One orders their food, pays, and sits down at one of the few tables. Clean and quiet adds to the appeal for me.The 1/2 chicken piri-piri style could be ordered in different heat levels, and I opted for spicy, with rice and a salad for $12.50. A bargain it should have been. A quick 10 monutes went by, and my order was ready. Fries, hmmm, but they appeared to...

Returning to the car with our purchases, we tried the blueberry danish first, only to find that it was stale and at least a day old. The supposed cherry pastry turned out to be apple instead, with a frozen base and overly sweet icing. The custard tart was enjoyable, and the Portuguese donut resembled a beaver tail and was tasty, albeit a bit greasy. The cornbread started off well, but the center became gooey after a couple of slices. Overall, it was a disappointment, and the service was lackluster at best, earning a 2 out of 5 rating. We won't be returning, especially since there are better bakeries like Breadland and Eleanor Laurent south of the river on 109th St. We've had nothing but g...

I went to a bakery looking for my favorite bread and to watch a soccer game, but it was closed for the day. So, I walked to a popular spot nearby. They had a juice machine to make fresh orange juice and I decided to try their version of an egg McMuffin: a brioche with a choice of ham, bacon, or sausage. Both dishes were delicious. The bakery also offers a small selection of prepared Portuguese food and acts as a deli/cafe with a variety of meats, cheeses, and sausages that you can purchase to take home. They open at 7:30. The bakery is licensed to serve alcohol, but I am unsure if the other restaurant is.

We go to this bakery every couple of weeks or more often if possible. Just get the chicken sandwich. It is all about the bread. Well and the chicken. Oh and the hot peppers and fresh veggies. Great sandwiches. We also buy Sumol for the kids and Bom Dia my favorite Portuguese olive oil. If you like baked treats, you will also have a huge selection of fresh baked Portuguese pastries (another one of their specialties). What ever you do, try the sandwich.

Nice little backery. In my opinion, the pastries and treats are better @ Handy Bakery. Howver, the Cafe atmosphere and decor is much nicer, brighter, and more open at Popular Bakery. I have not tried their sandwiches or chicken, which are apparently delicious.

the best place for tarts and everything baked. Go She's here years and is still great. A friend has introduced me and I have not gone into another bakery since then, which is much more than a bakery and feels almost like yours out of Edmonton.

Awesome Portuguese bakery with Portuguese tarts, other sweets, piri piri chicken and a small selection of European dry goods as well as deli meats.

I never really thought there were any Portuguese restaurants or eateries in Edmonton until I wandered down Alberta Ave one day and saw 3.

Very good food here. The bread and buns are to die for. The sandwhiches. Fries. All the deserts. Very good.
