The Chalk Cheese - Table reservation

My family and I dined at this restaurant tonight with our two sons, aged 8 and 11. The service was excellent (they opened up an additional garden area for us so we could eat away from smokers) and the food was delicious. As others have mentioned, the menu is not extensive but we all enjoyed the "in the basket meals" that we ordered. The hot chips were really tasty, and I would have gladly finished off the chicken bites my children ordered if they had left any! The scampi and burgers that the adults ordered also received high praise. This restaurant is not a fancy upscale place, but it doesn't try to be. During our week-long holiday in the village, we visited this pub on our first and last night. We were greeted warmly and received excellent service. The beer was well-maintained and the limited menu still offered delicious food. The chips were especially outstanding. On our last visit, we tried the lasagna special and it did not disappoint. It was rich, tasty, and hot. This pub is lovely, welcoming, and dog-friendly. We wish we had a pub like this near our home. Thank you.

We stopped by for a meal while staying in the area. The restaurant had cozy atmosphere, served freshly prepared food, and offered a nice selection of beers. The menu may not have a wide variety, mostly consisting of fast food options, but the service was prompt and the dishes were satisfyingly hot and delicious.
