The Confection Cottage

One of the sweetest spots in Aiken! My wife and I discovered LaDolce almost by accident during our recent several-days stay in Aiken. We'd never been to Aiken before, we only were looking for a cup of tea at the time, and this place turned out to be the highlight of our trip. It's a nicely appointed tea room, clean and pleasant and bright, with helpful staff, a fine selection of tea (and coffee), and yummy treats. We returned to LaDolce every day that we were in Aiken and were delighted each time.

I stopped by for a cup of tea one afternoon a couple of weeks ago. The smallest bill I had was a $50 but the young lady behind the counter told me she isn’t allowed to accept $50 bills. So I said, “No problem, I have lots of plastic.” Unfortunately, she said she couldn’t accept credit or debit cards for less than $5. So, long story short, I ended up buying an overpriced and mediocre $6 desert in order to buy my tea.

I visited the sweets hut to order cupcakes for my twins' birthday - a boy and a girl. The girl's cupcakes were unicorn-themed while the boy's cupcakes were themed with cars. I was disappointed with the design of the boy's cupcakes, especially considering the price of $150 for 50 cupcakes with fondant. The children didn't even enjoy the cupcakes. I won't be returning to this place.

The place was very nice and clean. Service was kind and fast. Prices are a little on the higher side, but I can say I would come back to try more food items. The Americano had that bite I enjoy while still being smooth. My biggest complaint would simply be finding this place. With GPS I still passed it and had to turn around to get here, but everything else was enjoyable.

Great desserts! And coffee. Update: I tried the ice coffee today, just awesome! We sat out on the patio, such a relaxing place to have coffee and cake.
