I came in from California to visit, and took my 94 year old mom out for lobster tails. Delicious. Great service. The place wasn 't busy at all a Wednesday 6pm), which I figure is normal for a pretty high end steak, etc. house. Lobster tails twin) were awesome. A limited selection of wines by the glass but the two I tried $11 and $13) were both rather nice for the price. Our waiter, if possible over a leisurely two hour dinner was overly attentive something that rarely happens anywhere, but the small crowd made it possible. We also ordered a porterhouse steak, massive, and plenty of left overs i plan to thoroughly enjoy. I highly recommend. My only complaint: we wanted to check and get a rese...

This is a truly unique restaurant with great food. To the impressive interior of the main building, there is an old style towing vehicle attached to the building. The seat in the train car acts as a private small room. Perfect for a date or a small family. The food itself was not particularly unique, but it was all delicious and well prepared. It felt a little quiet for a Saturday night. This could be because food is a bit expensive, or people could have been distributed over their different dining areas. This is definitely a place you need to visit at least once and maybe when you are in town. It would also be good for a private event.

My wife and I went to Christmas dinner last night. The Essex house was incredibly charming, the service was warm, efficient and thoughtful. I had a ribeye steak that was cooked for perfection (please trust me, I'm a hard critic of steaks). My wife had the filled chicken. We both have been incredibly happy and happy. Absolutely recommended!
