We had just paddle boarding up the Hamble and needed a placeto stop, have a drink and a spot of lunch. This place seemed perfect as it’s right next to the river so we planned to stop here. Upon arrival it’s obvious they are set up for river dwellers as there is a paddle board rack and a specific area for river users to have food and drink. It’s a Fullers so you come to expect a good pint but food is pub specific and this place makes it close to the top of the list. We both had a pasta based dish and it was homemade with a good helping of both pasta and sauce. What so makes a pub decent is the service you get and the staff here are attentive and polite. We had previously visited the Horse Jockey for drinks and meals, always enjoying the food and atmosphere. In September, the staff went above and beyond to help us host our wedding reception in their outdoor barn venue. The management was incredibly accommodating, assisting us in planning a fantastic event. They provided delicious appetizers, a delicious main meal, and kept us supplied with plenty of drinks. The entire staff did a fantastic job and we were extremely pleased with how the reception turned out.

First time that we have visited your establishment for years but we are already planning to return. Staff very friendly and helpful and the food was all excellent. I had the wild mushroom risotto and it was probably the best risotto that I have ever had. I am a wheelchair user and the pub is accessible with plenty of room to manoeuvre my chair between tables. Prices were fair for the quality of food served. I think that we may have just found ourselves a new favourite place to have lunch!

We were a big group of more than 30 people who made a last minute reservation at this restaurant. We had spent the day at a nearby campsite and were tired of the constant rain. The staff were incredibly helpful, managing to accommodate all of us and serve our food at the same time. The beer was also excellent, which was a nice bonus.
