After 2 years of being in Oxford, I finally decided to give the King's Arms (Wheatley) a try. I went in and was given a very warm welcome! The barkeep was very friendly and made sure everything was ok, etc. An absolute A+ for service in my books.I ordered the sausage and mash and chicken wings, quite pricey in my opinion. Came to a grand total of 20 quid! Thank god I didn't get a pint with it!To be critical (and hence why it's only 4 stars), the chicken wings were hard and not tender at all. They were also misadvertised as garlic and chili wings to my surprise, when they came out, they were just plain chicken wings drizzled in sweet chili sauce. I wish this pub was in stockport! we were on the way and arranged this pub to see when they stopped to serve, what 2.30 but they kept the kitchen open to us until we arrived at 15 o'clock. we had steakcakes and a few if pints. warm and entertaining atmosphere. dogs allowed in certain areas and good outside space. for wine lovers, they had some great Romanian wines that were delicious.
really nice pub, great eating and 3 minutes from the m40. when they leave the carbahn for Oxford services pass and go to the kings arms instead!
six of us ordered 5 different meals, and we were all really satisfied with what we got. good food, nice place, friendly staff. would go back
