We recently tried some pies at this restaurant and were quite impressed. The pastry was light, tasty, and well balanced. The sausage roll had a slightly smaller meat to pastry ratio than we would have preferred, but it was still good. The curry steak had a delicious authentic curry flavor with plenty of saucy mince. The beef pasty was fantastic, with a good balance of meat and veggies - probably the best pasty I've had in Melbourne. The egg and bacon pie was a bit bland and dry compared to the others, but we would have preferred some mince like the Ned Kelly. The vanilla slice had a tasty custard and a good crust. As a motorcycle racer I have traveled the length and breadth of the country and as a tradie, I am always on the lookout for a good pie. You can't beat the ones I find at The Pie Place in Coburg. You have to try their Chicken and Leek pie. Not something I would order anywhere else, but the first thing I go for at The Pie Place. They are EXCELLENT.
Been getting pie from here for 25 years. Now i travel from Gippsland to The Pie Place Coburg just for there yummy pies.
I absolutely love the pies at this restaurant. I drive all the way from Melton just to indulge in them.
