It is no use in me dissing vegan food because I’m not a vegan. We went here because our daughter is. She loved the food, a six course option called ‘Feed Me’. I quite liked the starter and the desert was amazing a chocolate and orange cheescake , delicious. Everything in between was so bland I’m convinced that some salt and pepper on the table would have done the trick yet filling. But blimey it’s expensive. $140 per person for a main course of grilled cabbage and others of a similar theme. As I say, I’m sure the preparation is high class and the service was very good. Have traveled extensively and enjoyed excellent Vegan food in many countries around the world, but never have I experienced being so incredibly exploited for this 'privilege '. Whilst 3 out of the 4 main dishes were really tasty, the fact that you literally pay $35 for 4 mouthfuls of risotto, as an example, is simply not acceptable. there were no truffles involved) and the portions were smaller than what you would expect for a starter. This is not a Tapas bar and at over $30 per main meal, portion size is important. One of the dishes was extremely average, bordering on inedible, and no, the staff did not offer to refund this. The atmosphere in the restaurant immediately reinforces its credo: it's calm, the music isn't too loud, and its waiting staff are friendly and attentive. Since my wife is vegetarian, I often make vegetarian dishes at home, but this restaurant's are special: the chefs have a great talent for combining ingredients and flavours, far beyond what I could do. It's great to be surpassed! It's not all that cheap, though: lunch for 2 cost $114, including 2 glasses of wine. Excellent for a try every now and then, even if you're an omnivore!
This is one of the sort of hidden gems in Freo. It is located in the center, but not in a main street. However, definitely worth visiting if you love good food. The food is seriously good, the combinations in the dishes are excuting and refreshing and on top of that the staff is friendly. Totally worth it
