We went to the Woodstock as a treat for my Mom on her birthday. I asked her over and over.. Where do you want to go? What food do you want? Do you know what she told me? Caesar Salad.. Ok.. a challenge.. Where is the best Caesar Salad in St John's? I threw it to my Twitter friends.. Because I follow some food nerds and know they could hook me up. and in all the recommendations The Woodstock caught my attention.. Isn't that just for weddings? Isn't it old? and Stuffy? Well yeah.. Its a great place to have a wedding reception.. and its old.. and its pretty much been a staple landmark that I drove past every time I went from CBS to Paradise since I have been born.. So I said.. Lets do it! They...

This place has new owners and the food is terrible!!! Myself and my 2 daughter's were there two weekends ago and I honestly would not feed the food we were given to a dog, salads were not fresh and after waiting an hour for our meal had to send it back because the steaks were burnt to a crisp. Ordered another dish (fish)and after waiting 30 minutes that was just as bad as the steak, it was blah, no seasonings and wasn't good quality. At the time we didn't want to cause a scene and ended up paying for this garbage. The next day I called to complain and the manager said she had been working that night and knew all about the situation and did realize that the steak was indeed burnt. My inquiry...

I had my first experience at the Woodstock Colonial Restaurant on Saturday evening with family. I remember driving by this place as a child driving from around the bay to St Johns and always thought it look real nice, so decided to take family on one of my trips home at Easter. The food was good, ambiance was very good, the service was very good however the price is way too high. Rumour has it that it's under new ownership and the food quality was very good rather than just good at one time. The Cod Au Gratin was not tasty, the fried cod had a horrible taste as if it were freezer burnt, the bread was like bulk style processed bread and the special Stuffed cod was extremely dry and had a simi...

This was our first visit to Woodstock, and we enjoyed every minute of it! The table service was quick and we didn't find ourselves waiting long for food. Our server was amazing! She helped us with choosing a wine by asking questions about what we did like, and then made suggestions based on the information. The food was delicious as well. I had the coconut shrimp for an appetizer, followed by their prime rib entree that was served with potato and the vegetables of the day, and ended the meal with the chocolate lava cake. This is a quiet, adult oriented (not really suited for small children), romantic restaurant. A great place for a date night! Book a table now

Food was very overpriced. Service was slow (3 hours for our meal). Food was not very good My prime rib roast came out grilled (that was a first for me). Meat was tough and had bbq sauce. I had to request the Au jus that was supposed to come on it my Muscles came out cold and you could tell they weren't fresh. one of the people in our party had the cod fish. He explained it as the worst fish he ever had. Freezer burnt and no seasoning. Terribly overpriced in a dated restaurant that had sub par service. I'll give it a zero.

My parents love this place. I wasn't too keen on going at first, but I did. I was the youngest person by a good 20 years. And lemme tell you, we're missing out. The food is really good! It's fresh, the servers are very polite and friendly. They have a variety on the menu. Ever since it came under new management I think it's really improved. I had a soup of the day that was a butternut squash soup and I swear it warmed my soul it was that good. It has a somewhat fancy, but peaceful atmosphere, I quite enjoy it there.

Having been born in the 1940s I was not uncomfortable in Woodstock Colonial's dining room tonight. Those of a later vintage might have been. It's a place out of the 70's with a classical menu and dated facility. However, the food was pretty good, including vegetables that were not over cooked. The kitchen was slow and the wine selections very limited. The clientele were predominantly regulars.
