Kansas City is known for the BBQ but the 801 Chophouse was a wonderful hidden gem. After several days of business travel, and trying many wonderful places to eat along the way, the 801 Chophouse was by far my favorite restaurant to visit. I'm giving this place 5 stars based on the impeccable quality of the rib-eye I ordered, plus the service. The steak was cooked exactly right, was nicely seasoned. The cocktails were crafted proficiently. That said, I *want* to subtract a star for something. My A5 Wagyu striploin had the texture of pure, unrendered chewy fat. I'll admit this is my first experience with A5, but I can't imagine this is what everyone is raving about. I've had other wagyu steaks and the texture was smooth and delicious. I'm hoping I just got unlucky with the cut of beef. The demi glace tasted magnificent, and everything else including sides, wine and service was superb. I'll try a cheaper steak next time, and maybe A5 again someday but that wasn't fun to pay for.

Amazing service and ambiance makes thos place a cannot miss when wishing Kansas City! The deserts, the steak and feel will leave an impression in me that will be a lifelong memory. Just asking them to showcase the meats is a show in itself!
Had an astonishing supper here the previous evening with companions. While in fact a business supper, the chophouse made it more like family. Get the lobster tears into me any steak, you can't turn out badly.
Came here for our one year wedding anniversary. The staff was outstanding and made our night feel very special. The food was delicious, definitely worth the price. Overall excellent experience.
Great food and atmosphere, we really enjoyed a meal with our family in a much more private setting while still eating out at a restaurant.
