We have always eaten here on our visits to Oberstaufen and found both the food and service to be consistently very good. Many of the staff also speak very good English and there is an English menu as well.As usual, pork features frequently on the menu but is served in traditional ways which impart different flavours. Steak is also available both as filet but also as the local speciality Zwiebelrostbraten. This is typically rump steak served with caramelized onions and spaetzle and delicious. The Adler also serves their version of Lyonnaise potatoes with some dishes and well worth seeking out. We arrived in Oberstaufen on Christmas Eve with no dinner plans and found it difficult to find any where to eat as the few places that were open were only doing special prix fixe menus that night; reservations only. We got turned away, place after place--Mary and Joseph-style--but Hotel-Restaurant Adler made a place for us at the bar. The front of house host was especially gracious in letting us eat there and saved our Christmas Eve! So did the rump steak. The meal was worth trudging around in snow for--traditional German at its finest. What a night of true hospitality and Christmas magic!
We had lunch in this place and the food was good, real old Bavarian style. The service was not the fastest and not the most friendly I have experienced in my life, but fine. Food was fresh and tasty, not much choice for kids, but in the end everybody was full and happy. I would probably go again, as the price was very fair for what we got. Recommended.
Very pleasant experience. Restaurant is located on the old peaceful square right next to the church, surrounded by flower gardens, fountains, Bavarian houses, and with mountain view. Food was excellent. Steak was exceptionally tender and delicious. Potato soup, Knoedel, all homemade Bavarian dishes on a rather high level. Recommendable.

This place was recommended by one of the desk ladies at our hotel. It's hard to find, and hard to find a place to park, but worth the effort. The service is exceptional, the food delicious and plentiful and is a perfect Bavarian experience. I would have repeated several times, but we were usually out of town for dinner.
After I had read good critiks, I was largely disappointed. the menu is bad, no vegetarian options. the service was more than bad. we ordered two main dishes, a spinatknoedl, a forelfilet, with a water and a beer. the dishes were very beautifully dressed and delicious.
The meals my husband and I had in this restaurant was one of the best we've ever had anywhere. He had pork and I had duck and the sauces were incredible as were the vegetables and meat. I highly recommend this restaurant. The staff was very friendly and helpful too.
the adler was one of our stopping points on our bike trip from Munich to Lindau. the eagles have a separate room with plugins for bicycle chargers. Very good. the rooms are very good! the food, the beer, the wine and the service were wonderful. .

How could a Spargelcremesuppe have the same taste as a Schweinerückensteak? Morever, we arrived at 12:10, few people were already eating. Why the table was dirty as lots of people have already used it?
