Service was prompt and setting is great but unfortunately that’s where it ended for my experience. I will admit my idea of a pork knuckle and crackling is possibly not Franconian. I heard great reviews and eagerly anticipated my meal here but unfortunately my expectations...were far from met. My expectations were lovely soft pork with great crackling and this was far from my expectations. Do yourself a favour and order something else I was very disappointed
Die Bedienung ist freundlich und das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis ist gut. Wir hatten wir Essen am Tisch (Suppe, Salat mit Parmesan/Schinken, Rostbratwürste mit Kartoffelsalat, Fleischplanzerl). Hat alles wirklich lecker geschmeckt. Man sitzt im Aussenbereich sehr schön.Ein Gutes Lokal, um ein zünftiges Essen mit leckerem Bier zu einem angemessenen Preis zu sich zu nehmen.
The restaurant is located near the center of Erlangen. It has a nice ambience so people can experience some German Gemuetlichkeit. The restaurant is often booked out so make your reservations early. The food is a mixture of Franconian dishes as well as steaks. The...staff is friendly ... sometimes a little sluggish though
This restaurant has a great selection of beers, wines, and of course German cuisine. The schnitzel is fantastic and they also have very good Spätzle. The dishes come with tasty sides as well. As most people on here I visited the Alter Simpl, guided by Trip Advisor. What I found was a warm and cozy place with genuinely charming ambiance. Although I was alone, I was attended immediately and my order can promptly. I ordered the Roasted Pork...Shoulder and was great. I will return
Book in advance. Have you booked yet? It’s so good you’ll have to book. Got the message yet? Wear stretchy trousers as it’s seriously yummy Bavarian food and it’s all good. Schnitzel and dumplings is to die for. No idea about the puddings never...had space left!
An average experience, a decent evening, sat outside, we were served quickly, the food was good. I struggle sometimes with the brashness and rudeness of the waiters around Erlangen and this was no better than anywhere else but yes, I will return sometime

I was regular guest years ago each time visiting Erlagen times annually I came back after long time and noticed that atmosphere and service remain on same level but quality of food went down noticeable
