We were told that we'd have about hrs for our dinner, because then we'd have to vacate the table, as it had been reserved. There are not many places you can find pork knuckle in the US. In fact, I cannot think of a German restaurant in the DC area that serves it. Here in Germany, it is everywhere. This place does a very good one with it being...deep fried and very tender on the inside. The portion is quite large and very succulent. My only complaint would be in the presentation of it. It is served on a wooden dish with a small portion of salad with some cheese sprinkles on top. No side dish of any kind. It just looked a little plain when put in front of me. They offer a variety of alcohol (beer and wine) and have an English menu. The restaurant is right off the platz (main square) so you can sit outside and peop...
I can't find much negative things to say regarding this restaurant. I rather much enjoyed everything about it. The only downside was the service, took long, was forgetful, but they were courteous and accommodating. So forgiving this misstep, considering the food quality and the adequate...prices in my opinion, I will rate this out of And I recommend you give it a go. Great stuff!
This is an old favourite of the regulars who goes back time after time to enjoy the easy-going food. The Eisbein is perfect (huge), cooked to perfection with lovely crackling. The atmosphere is good and informal, but get there early since it can sometimes be...packed. There are options for smaller rooms which allows some privacy for a small team.

Altstadtlokal Funzel is located in the center, close to hotels, bus and S-Bahn. The rations are huuuuuge, so can easily share for Very good value, e.g. Spätzle for persons for Euro... The food is very good, typical German, served quickly...and with a smile. An not to mention the beer ....
I look forward to staying in this town and the food at Funzel is always a delight. I bought three German guests to dinner and enjoyed every bite. Great menu choices and large servings. Must confess I only had a main course as I knew...what was coming great quality in large measures.
We ate here during the World Cup and the atmosphere was excellent. The service was slow, but to be expected with bigger crowds. Everyone throughly enjoyed the Weiner schnitzel and jaeger schnitzel. The beer is good as well.
Numerous visits and never disappointing! The mix of tourists and locals that crowd the pub restaurant testify to the value and quality of the menu items. Love the schwein medallions in mushroom sauce with fries!

Had great dinner on a Sunday night, and enjoyed the cosy interior, the well-made German food, the friendly service, and the lack of noise. Great for hanging out with friends. I will be back.
Just a great location on the plaza with outdoor sitting. Great for those nice days to enjoy a beer with family or friends. Staff was polite and attentive.
