American Cheese is a restaurant that, compared to its competitors, is on the pricier side. The decor and atmosphere are cute, and the service is friendly. However, the restaurant has a small wine list and limited food options. My first visit to American Cheese was average, and I wasn't overly impressed. I had been hoping to love it as much as another cheese store in Port Jeff, but unfortunately, it fell short in several areas. I am thrilled to write a review for this amazing restaurant because of its exceptional menu. I have been to similar places before and this one stands out with its perfect balance of portion size and delicious flavors. In the past, I have been to places that offer Costco-sized samples (like Patchogue's Cheese Patch) that left me still hungry and with a hurting wallet. Decent selection of craft: Sweetwater IPA, Moustache, Great South Bay with 2 offerings, Greenport 's Black Duck Porter and Crooked Ladder. Had the pork tenderloin and ham panini. This restaurant is amazing for several reasons. First, the staff is exceptional - helpful, knowledgeable, and ready to assist with any questions or recommendations. Our server, Pia, was outstanding. Second, the cheese selection is extensive, featuring cow, goat, and sheep cheese from various locations in the United States. They offer cheese plates, fondue, and paninis made to order.
