When we first arrived, it seemed to be a combination of local club and social hub. The private dining room is in the back. It is a little rustic, but with old school crispy bedding and extremely welcoming. The locals were striving to extoll the virtues of the kitchen and very helpful in assisting us in decrypting the menu. In the night we visited, the local Karnival committees were in the meeting next door. Along with many trophies and pennants who explain Xanten's Blood Sausage Committe 1972, you get the feeling that this is a local hub. The food is very well cooked. My vegetables were perfect al dente. The wine map is almost exclusively white, but these are the best German wines. Very good...
