We met the cook on the way into the restaurant (there is an outside seating area and a smaller area on the first floor: you enter that through the kitchen). We chose to sit inside (temperatures were cool). Everyone was friendly and the cook seemed capable and competent. Went with another couple (French citizens) and we all ordered the special of the day (slow cooked pork: bone in (think short ribs)). My soup of the region (vegetable) was very bland and lacked flavor and the "entree" of the others (beans and pate) was acceptable but not special. But, the real negative was the pork. It should have been cooked for at least two more hours to get the meat tender and easy to separate from the bone...
We were looking forward to our meal here as we were staying in Montfort so this was only a short walk down the street. Sorry to give a contrarian view on this but we were less than impressed by the food and although the prices are very reasonable the value for money was questionable.The soup was inadequately seasonedThe chips were over-salted and one portion was undercooked. The other portion arrived more than 5 minutes after the chicken dish they were to accompany and then only after I reminded the waitress that I was waiting.I never got the second beer that I ordered.Cold cake, as dessert, was served on hot plates.The waitress and le patron were friendly
We stayed within walking distance of this lovely restaurant. This is a 2 person operation and we enjoyed it. The menu is simple with 3-4 choices for entrée. The duck was magical and the fresh veggies served with the dinner were cooked well. My husband had the Foie Gras appetizer and he wanted to lick the bowl it was served in. The server did not speak English but did her best to accommodate us. The table rose wine was refreshing and all in all we liked our meal.

This restaurant was recommended by our hosts at L'Ombriere - the B&B which was a 2 minute walk away. Angelus is run by a charming and most welcoming couple in this beautiful hamlet of Montfort. We had a wonderful meal and enjoyed a nice conversation with our hosts. The food and wine was delicious and I felt that we had a truly authentic French dining experience....definitely one of the highlights of our trip to France!
Lovely rustic cooking with a friendly family feel. We ate in the shade of the terrace and easily started to relaxed amongst the local diners. The menu was small & condensed but plenty of choice. We ate starters mains and desserts with wine and found it Great value.
It is always a pleasure to eat here. Limited menu choice but very popular. Friendly staff, reasonably priced. Recommended. Booking essential during peak holiday season.
Charming, homey, delicious. The owner/chef is friendly, caring and intent on making fabulous food. We adored this little place and the food was wonderful.
