This is my kind of shtick in Sydney's shifting dining scene. Its a bright and breezy bolthole. The restaurant gods are smiling on us because we manage to snag a table for midweek dinner with no reservation. One of the pleasures of eating in a small, informal places is that the menu is the same compact and makes for a refreshing, delicious read. Taglioni and seafood is my first with the femme craving the fusilli ai funghi. We add colour with buffalo mozzarella and a rocket & pear salad. I usually go to Froth nearby but Apex looked interesting. It turned out to have the same business plan some interior and some streetside seating, $6 bacon and eggs or a bit more for fancier breakfasts, a range of budget non breakfast meals, and strong coffee. It seemed to have good ingredients and I'd have to rank it right up there with Froth there are now at least three of these budget cafes on Darlinghurst Road and they really set a good basic standard that anyone who wants to charge full cafe prices needs to beat by a long way.

This would have to be the cheapest hot breakfast place around. 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 toast, 1 tomato for $6, add in the coffee and its marvellous. Very good service too, did not have to wait long either. Highly recommend.

Highly recommend this place after having had both a breakfast and dinner here. Would have to be the cheapest prices in Sydney for home cooked standard meals and you can dine in or alfresco it Book a table now

Went to Apex Cafe for a late lunch back in May'16. I found the food & service to be fine & good value. The only real down-side is the traffic fumes because you are on the side of a busy road

This café isn't marvellous. However with the no smoking ban also the lock out laws business is difficult for any food place in Kings Cross
