Packed with diners, this Saturday lunchtime. We were lucky to get there early (2pm) without a reservation; others were turned away later. Everyone else was Spanish (big family groups in the back room) and almost everyone was sharing dishes of lechazo lamb, baked in the big front-room oven. No frills, very tender and plenty of it. Too much for us to finish but our neighbours stripped theirs to the bone! Young, robust local wine by carafe was a perfect accompaniment. Our waitress was kind enough to pretend to understand our Spanish. In-house desserts rounded off a very enjoyable meal.
Well, it's already the third or fourth time I come to eat asador mauro in peñafiel, and as usual, I am completely satisfied of his restaurant, with some squirrel and morcilla inks, a croquette, salad, all very well prepared, the strong dish that has been a quarter of roasted yech, was at its point of october, well tostadic as gout and vinito. The waitress, attentive and fast as I drop, very sober and chaplain. The price is reasonable, the quality of the room we've eaten, unquestionable.I'll be back when I have occasion.
We were doing a private wine tour and staying in the city. Our tour guide picked it and it did not disappoint. The restaurant had a wood fired oven and a great wine list. The owner and his wife served us and the lunch was delicious!!!! I had pork and my wife had a rack of lamb! She was so excited and it did not disappoint. We ate like kings! I would go back there in a heart beat and it was one of our favorite meals on our three week trip.
wood roaster in peñafiel. We went on a Saturday to eat something that wasn't roasted and we got very satisfied. We ask for a Castilian soup and then clamp chops and entrecot respectively. highly recommended although the price of meats is a bit expensive, of the order of 20 euros per dish. they have good wines on the shore and less known.

quality food but very spit and face. We asked for the ration of chops (24 euros) and it seemed to us a joke when they put us 7 ribs that were literally in the bones as we could barely taste the meat. In nearby restaurants the ration is more economical and abundant and with meat chops, not stick.
Location: close to the castle in Penafiel Service: relaxed. Food: the typical thing to eat in Castilla is lamp chops, morcilla (black pudding Spanish style) and a nice fresh salad in combination with the great local Ribera wines. Wines come at a bargain price. Summary: Great place
Having had the pleasure of eating my way around the world I can honestly say this wins my vote for best lamb ever! Spectacular and I can't wait to go back for more. Great wine list as well.
You can't go from peñafiel without eating the mauro and dessert yew roast, segoviano punch, all delicious, with wine from the area. before, a walk through the lagoons of the owner's paddle.
