It's divisive you'll either love it or hate it. Dining in at Ashley's is a bit like if Jack Bauer were on Cheers. The atmosphere is fast paced and a little chaotic but with the hometown feeling of familiarity. The food is nothing extraordinary, standard American breakfast it's a diner but it doesn't seem to front itself as anything more than what it is. As an out of towner I get the immediate impression it's a neighborhood favorite, but if you're a tourist you may be expecting something very different from a highly rated diner in the heart of Hartford. Eventually, I drove back at 12:30 AM. They gave me the correct order but told me I needed to confirm with the management first. The girl at the counter mentioned she would have to check with her team. When I picked up my new order and mentioned I shouldn’t have to pay for it since I had already paid for the wrong meal, one of the staff members cursed under his breath in front of other customers. Out of frustration, he pulled a wad of cash from his pocket, dropped a $20 bill on the counter, and told me to have a nice day.

This is one of my favorite breakfast places. I'm going here with my girlfriend from time to time. It is really simple and small, but the mood is just right. Expectations are realistic, prices are completely reasonable and I always enjoy my meal. We had a tuna sandwich and Ashleys Special 2 for lunch. Service is always fast. The only proposal I have is that they should really take payments to the table. You have to get up to pay at the front tab.
I had the big breakfast and had already eaten some of it before I remembered making a photo. It was so good. We need to protect small businesses like these. Diners are not a thing of the past. This is food that brings you back to a childhood where you may have breakfast in a small facility after Sunday mass. Thank you to Ashley for being there with good food!

10.22.22 We parked right up front on the street. It wasn't really busy when we showed up. Several 1 person and a couple, couples. Our coffees came fast and service was fast. Waitress was friendly and attentive. Food also came out super fast and good portions for the price. Overall a great experience.
If you look at the definition of a “hole in the wall”, you will find this restaurant. The service was friendly, positive and fast. The food was very fair, with beautiful specialties and combo meals. The food arrived quickly and was very good. Her potatoes were well cooked and had good taste.
My mom and I stopped here for breakfast, and were so pleased with our experience. Service was wonderful, food was delicious. I especially loved the homefries/potato and my mom loved her corned beef and French toast. If I lived in the area, I would return!
I had double egg, cheese and bacon on a role with domestic pommes. Everything was fresh and delicious sandwich was loaded with bacon. Best of all $6.50 you can't beat that. Mom and Pop's cozy restaurant. For Ashley's.

Came to Connecticut for the Tommy’s Tattoo Convention and this was the highest praised breakfast spot!! And it was absolutely spot on!!
Coffee was served just as we sat down and the food was delicious. Will definitely go back again!
