My son and I went here on a Monday as we had a Groupon. It was surprisingly busy, and with one server, it made for long waits. Our food came quickly, but most were loaded with sauce. We enjoyed the specialty rolls better than the...ones on the regular menu. We enjoyed the sparkling roll and red dragon roll, but the flavours of the actual sushi was lost due to the layers of sauce. We also had dessert which my son really wanted. The price was quite expensive more than other sushi options out there, and we go for sushi lots. I don’t think we’ll be back due to the long waits. I do like the privacy screens between the tables that are designed so you can’t see the people beside you.
We took a flyer as we drove by and decided to head into Asoyama. We are pleased we did. The restaurant has great decor, upscale vibe and clean. We were quickly seated and found many excellent choices. We decided on the assorted tempura and the...small party tray. The server was quick to allow us changes to the typical tray that consisted of nigiri and rolls. The food was very good. We will certainly visit again.
I've been to Asoyama many times and will tell you they have great Sushi, as good as all of the neighbouring Sushi places. They also have some other great dishes. Their beef bulgogi (pictured) is amazing and for an great price. Close by you can...go to the Wok Box and pay far more for an inferior bulgogi. The service at Asoyama is about average I would say. No complaints but also nothing exceptional.
This a top three choice for sushi in Winnipeg. The staff are incredibly friendly. There are a handful of feature private-booths which have you sitting on the floor with your legs under the table; bell service and decent privacy. Only a gratuity is required in...these booths, of which is fully deserved regardless of seating.

that is an overpriced, terrible restaurant. they smashed all their sushi with sauces to hide that they slept on the fish. if they scrape off the whole sauce, they will hardly see fish. avoid this restaurant. they will spend a fortune and be disappointed.
Always have a great meal and excellent service here! Portions are good, sushi is fresh and delicious, hours are great open later than many places and I enjoy the atmosphere in there. I have been here many times and never had a meal...I didn't enjoy.
my friend ordered some sushi from here and it was so delicious! the rice was perfectly cooked, better than any other sushi restaurant I was, and I was a lot. I can't expect to enjoy sushi from here in the near future.
This is the worst sushi I've ever had. The fish either tasted dry and fishy. It was disgusting! People rant and rave about this place and I'm not sure why. Terrible food!
