"We enjoyed excellent food, good wine and great drinks in a cozy backyard. Very satisifed with our choice of entrecote and quite frankly amazed that such a quality restaurant can be found in little Piolenc."

Cyril and Karine used to work in the marvelous Tourne au Verre in Cairanne, but moved down to the plain a couple of years ago to start this restaurant in the old schoolhouse on the famed Route National 7 (the nostalgic road down to the Cote d 'Azur that is the subject of a Charles Trenet song that all the French know). A similar formula: good food, great wines by the glass and charming service. In summer the terrace out the back is great fun. It 's not the most gastronomic place in the valley, but it doesn 't try to be. Down here you eat great value delicious food, sample some brilliant wines and have a terrific night for the price of a slice of pizza and salad in most other countries.

My wife and I decided to stop in Piolenc on our way to Montpellier airport for a spot of lunch. Had read about Au Comptoir and decided to give it a try. We are very glad we did as the food and service was excellent. We both had as a starter the tomatoes with grilled goats cheese and delicious pesto sauce. For mains we both had the Roti de Veau with new potatoes and haricot vert which was extremely tasty. For dessert my wife chose the chocolate fondant which she said was a little hard and would have been better if served warm. I had the lemon cheesecake which was excellent. Three good courses for set price of Eur18.5 per head. Great spot so do give it a try if you are in the locality.

The staff were very nice. This is a neighbor place. For us the food was not tasty. Too salty and not so fresh. We went here because We were on our way to Lyon and it was convenient. The overall #1 of 9 restaurants in the town. After arriving I realized that all the reviews were from several years ago. Things may have changed in these last few tumultuous years. .

We went for lunch there. The place was full and we thought this was a good sign for good food. Unfortunately we were served rather average dishes and the waitresses were too busy to bring us the bread. The main dish had a tiny quantity of meat but plenty of the mashed potato. I guess they are trying to earn money by serving the cheapest food.
