We came to the Au coup de Silex after a visit to the Museum of Pre-history in Les Eyzies. It was mid afternoon and we only wanted coffee and ice cream two couples with two teenage kids each (so, eight in total). The restaurant...was quite empty so we occupied two tables; we sat outside. Granted, we may have stayed a long time for the amount we ordered but after being served, never once the waiter came to ask if we needed anything else. Not once... until the owner/waiter came to tell our children they had to leave their table so another party could sit down. After walking the main streets of Les Eyzies, we happened upon this small cafe across from the museum. Operated by a man/woman team, it was bustling at the height of lunch hour. Orders are placed inside, with patrons handed a buzzer to alert them when...orders are ready. Food is quickly prepared- my hamburger was great! Desserts are tasty, and the outdoor atmosphere added to the mix. We enjoyed a glass of wine chatting with friends and watching the tourists pass by. One star deducted by lack of table bussing, but after watching the owners hustle orders and delivery, I can understand the delays.
We arrived in Les Eyzies mid evening, late season and found a good meal and good wine. we tried a kir chataigne as apero and found it a little tasteless at it was made with the spirit' and not the ordinary fortified wine as is...normal in kirs. although there is only or so different in alcohol the spirit doesnt give the slightly offbeat taste that we like. The waitress was a little off in the discussion but brightened up and we had a good interesting meal with a view of a floodlight on the cliff above which was cleverl;y done
Having stopped at the swanky place at the bottom of the hill and been studiously ignored, we retraced our steps and found parking. We came across this cafe/restaurant by chance and we so impressed by the friendly lady that we stayed for lunch! So glad...we did. Great local unpretentious cooking and great wine. Reasonably priced and a beautiful setting. Highly recommend. Merci beaucoup!

We stopped here on our way to the museum and sat in the sunshine at an outside table. Then we realised that orders had to be placed and paid for inside at the counter. The grande cafe creme' at that we both had was...actually quite a small cup. But the lemon tart at was very good. Overall; a pleasant little café.
Very good food here simple, plain food, but so well done. Delicious omelettes (the best we had and the vegetarian among us had an awful lot of omelettes in France Best of all, our two dogs were welcomed inside. I love that!
Based on the ratings, I expected an exceptional food experience here. It was all right, but pretty ordinary. The setting is very nice, right across from the museum--it was raining, so we didn't get to enjoy the balcony.

The food is decent, but it is not deserving of the stars given to it by lots of reviewers. By all means come, but don't expect too much.
Visited after a trip to the museum. Our party had omelettes, salad and sandwich. All ok and reasonably priced.
