Unfortunately, we were only in Amboise two nights and the first night we were out of town on the balloon ride, so this was our only opportunity for a normal dinner. We certainly weren't disappointed by this restaurant. Our hotel recommended it and made reservations for us - reservations highly recommended, though I think that goes without saying for all good restaurants in France. Service was good - we had a young man who spoke good English and seemed happy to translate the menu for us. All of the meals were excellent and a reasonable value. This little restaurant is down a little laneway near the chateau. My husband is a big carnivore so he was quite looking forward to a good steak but was a bit disappointed. The quality of the meat wasn't great, just passable. I had fish and given that it is very much a 'steak' restaurant I wasn't expecting much which was fortunate because it wasn't very good. Even though the restaurant wasn't busy, we felt pushed to eat and move on. Pour changer un peu de la place Pierre Debré - malgré sa vue sur le château - où nous avions déjà déjeuné 2fois, nous avons pris le parti d'explorer un peu les ruelles alentours. Nous avons découvert le "Feu d'Amboise" et n'avons pas été déçus. Son patio, au calme et au frais grâce au toit de glycine en fait un endroit très agréable. La personne qui nous a accueilli était très serviable.Nous avions pris le menu déjeuner à 17€ pour Entrée+Plat+Dessert qui était bon et copieux. Les grillades de viande et de poisson sont bonnes, accompagnées de pommes de terre au four et salade. Le service est rapide.Une bonne adresse pour le déjeuner avant de repartir en visite !

Un peu reculé dans une ruelle face au château, Au feu d'Ambroise nous a accueilli à 11H30 pour déjeuner en terrasse! Chaleur accablante qui nous a amenée à choisir le menu du jour simple et copieux, à moins de 10 euros! Un dessert, une eau pétillante, un café en plus, nous reprenions le chemin des visites de châteaux à 12 heures!Merci au patron pour son accueil avant l'heure de service et pour sa compréhension de notre besoin de rapidité. Pour les pressés, nous conseillons l'adresse.Parking payant dans les rues de proximité.
Nous avons dîné avec un couple d'amis, et 2 enfants bien vivants. Ils nous ont placés autour d'une table ronde, nos enfants ont été servis rapidement.Le menu à 25€ est très correct, les grillades étaient bonnes apparemment.Les vins sont abordables.Une adresse recommandable, bonne alternative à l'Epicerie (par ailleurs très bien) avec des enfants.La serveuse était efficace et souriante.
Small menu, but what he does he does well. The owner is great; he is honest in that he warned that a blue steak would be cold, because he is not big enough to have room temperature steaks waiting to be cooked.The restaurant is on a side street off the main tourist route and must survive on the quality of its food. Don't expect Michelin star food, but what you'll get will be good.
We went as a family of six and sat in a cozy terrace away from the crowds. We all ordered from their menu of the day. The food was quick and absolutely delicious. I loved the salmon dish and the tarte citron! I recommend this place and would come back again!

Questo è uno dei pochi ristoranti di Amboise situato non sulle due strade principali, ma in un vicolo a 50 metri dal castello. Personale molto gentile, servizio rapido, ottimo il rapporto qualità prezzo dei menù proposti. Carino sia l'esterno che l'interno.
