We've been going to this cozy little restaurant for 3 years now.Every time we're in Val Thorens, on ski vacation, we go out and eat 3 nights a week in this restaurant.The food is good! It ranges from local cheese dishes, to beef, lamb, etc.Due to my lactose-intolerance, I am having the filet pure. The meat only once was undercooked. The waitress immediately noticed the mistake as soon as I sliced the meat, took my plate back to the kitchen. This is where usually a long waiting time comes in... The restaurant ranked number near the apartment I stayed in VT, so gave it a go. It is always full - not even a table for one without reservation. So I made a booking for the following night. While I was there, I saw ad people being turned away cos they were fully booked. Having tried fondue a few times in Switzerland before the ski trip and in order to get some energy for skiing for the following few days, I had a set dinner, which I knew was more than enough for me - a pate with bread and a steak, medium rare... and a few glasses of wine. My husband and 4 friends dined here and were very pleased to find a cosy atmosphere and an extensive menu. Four of them chose the meat fondue dish to share consisting of duck, beef and chicken. There was a lot of food. Washed down with very good house white Chardonnay and red Merlot, my husband and his group have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to anybody seeking good food served by lovely people in a traditional setting and at reasonable cost. Favourite restaurant in resort, visiting for the 3rd year running. We always book ahead from home, this is essential as groups are constantly turned away on the night as restaurant is quite small and usually fully booked. Two sittings at 7 pm and 9 pm. We are always made to feel very welcome, definitely no grumpy staff here. Food is very good and staff very attentive and helpful speaking very good English. Highly recommend an evening at Au Mazot.

This lovely little restaurant certainly lived up to its previous recommendations. Excellent food, decent sized portions, wonderfully friendly service and beautiful cozy little restaurant, all at a more sensible price than some of the places in VT. We tried to book for the next evening too, but were not at all surprised to hear that they already had a full house! Would definitely recommend and book ahead if we return to VT.
Visited this little number for dinner one night avec famille. A very successful affair even though my wife has vowed to never eat cheese again. We had the raclette which, if we are being honest, is hard to get wrong. However the service and ambience were first class, the local wine was eminently quaffable and the kids enjoyed their steaks. All in all, a memorable and most enjoyable evening.
This will be our 3rd time visiting this superb little restaurant. What a wonderful experience. There is nothing I can fault this restaurant for - outstanding food, wonderfully attentive staff, good prices(yes it is always more expensive in a ski resort but we don't mind paying for something that is worth the cost). we will be back next year and that says it all really.
Booked this little gem on recommendations from trip advisor. So glad I did! Amazingly friendly staff, serving you with a smile. Good food in a rustic-Cozy atmosphere, the way you want it in the alpes. Will visit again!

Second visit to Val Thoren and this restaurant. Consistent with service and excellent food. The atmosphere is cosy and has a real warming atmosphere. Recommendations would be the Lamb shank it is immense. A must visit
