We went there with some friends during our winter ski holidays. The people at the local UCPA (if you don't know what this is look it up, you won't lose) suggested we go. We started walking at about 8pm and where there by 9pm after a beautiful walk (in an uphill, very well maintained, mountain road! So you will get a bit tired until you get there). The lady doesn't speak English and we were straggling with French. But it turns out it is one of those set menu restaurants. She started bringing dish after dish. It's a good thing we walked all that way... All where local delicacies, very tasty and the house wine was good. A bit on the pricey side (around 50 euros p.p) but we had enjoyed our food,...
I have been to the Auberge de Colombaz 3 times the last 12 years and I wonder why I imagined this time the service would be better this time after my previous 2 disappointing experiences. Well, today the lady of the house convinced me never ever to stop there again during my future skitouring or hiking trips. The last 2 times the service was bad, the menu linited and super expensive, but this time, the lady of the house even refused to serve my wife and I an early afternoon tea, as she said the restaurant was complet while only 1 third of the tables were occupied. A real shame that a bar/restaurant in such a nice location can continue to treat their customers so rudely. We couldn 't believe...
beautiful walk to the hostel, quiet, in a green setting with beautiful view. After being ignored for a certain time when we arrived on the terrace, we finally had to go to the meeting of the owners who had yet passed us several times at the shave, so that we could settle on the terrace. It is the unpleasant side of the place: uncomfortable staff and several panels/posts that make it uncomfortable by giving the impression that the customer is necessarily unpleasant, pingrily and uncivilized. apart from this big negative point, we ate very well: the swans were famous and the pie with divine blueberries! The note is still a little salty. short, contrasting balance.
We were a large group in the Contamine area. Some took the telepherique up and walked to resto. Two others drove up. Whatever the route it is worth going. We had made reservations which was very useful for such 12 people. Some interesting dishes and desserts (see my photos). The view also is magnificent. Service was helpful and nice. The drive up is on a gravel road and fairly narrow. Hike according to the hikers was about 40 minutes but fairly easy.

after a 1h15 snowshoe rando, we stopped at the hostel for a little taste! The welcome, if we can call it that, was very cold. like the impression of disturbing the lady who held the inn this day! There was no card of drinks or other!And more the only thing she proposed to eat this day was a poor part of blueberry pie at the price of 7€!!
After a beautiful 1 hour snowshoe in mist and some sun, a delightful auberge with home style good food. Famous for bougnettes (wonderful potato fritters) and equally good daily menu (delicious roast goat, potatoes and salad today). Good service from friendly staff. Worth a stop.
Absolutely fantastic evening. 3 Kms night walk up to the Auberge. Food was amazing and lots of it. Pascale was very friendly and hospitable. The toboggan run down at the end of the evening was hysterical. An absolute must, can’t wait to go back.
1 hour small rando to get to the hostel.(You can climb in4/4). Beautiful view, not to the top in good mood, very copied.Good welcome of the bosses, very commercial, they offered us the thumb coffee for the descent.to be redo and thank you.

super frame, superb flowered terrace and a very good home of the mistress. 6 "speciality" goat dishes: a real treat! We chain desserts very good. very good meals : I recommend to lovers of authenticity !
if you go to choose this dish made at the request by the bosses the welcome is warm beautiful view in summer possibility to access the restaurant by car but the way does not require great efforts.
