We visited with twin year old girls and there was something for all of us. The girls could have shared a single child set menu. We went for a set menu for two and that was great value. My wife had an excellent...goats cheese starter with a good mixture of textures and flavours, followed by a beautifully cooked fish dish with fennel and mash. My Rump steak with goats cheese sauce was very good, all beautifully cooked and perfectly seasoned. The tuna sashimi salad was large for a starter but again good. Would recommend!
We were taken here with friends who live locally, the amuse bouche soup was delicious and all the dishes were very well presented. The Lapin terrine starter) was plentiful and very tasty as was the local goats cheese nougat and figs. The steak.. with vegetables was very tasty and enjoyable. We had white and red local wine which was very good too. The service was prompt and friendly. The meal was very enjoyable. Merci !
parked in richelieu had to lose an hour, so went around the park back to the restaurant for the menu was very diverse with much to eat. I went for the hunch in a cream sauce with a sweet. No rum baba...for dessert so had the tarts au citron, which was very nice all washed out with a beautiful glass rose wine. service good a reasonable price.
We visit quite often because the quality of the food is always consistent and great value for money at euros for three courses. Today’s main course was outstanding, Hampe de Boeuf with shallots, braised fennel and a lovely baked potato. This is a family-run...restaurant and we always receive a warm welcome. Highly recommended.

ate in the auberge du carnal occasionally during the week. only a beautiful restaurant. the lady who runs it is an excellent host attentive and funny, without being intrusive. the food was excellent. absolutely recommended.
Although we have been to Richelieu several times this is the first time we have been to The Cardinal. We all enjoyed our meals and the staff were friendly. We will be going there again next time we are in the area.

Had a really lovely evening meal here quite pricey but worth it. The menu is good, food is very fresh seasonal and well presented. Large portions too.
