This is very nice place, quite conveniently located about 20-30 minutes outside Geneva, on the side of the main Gex-Divonne road, with plenty of parking space. In the summer, there is a nice garden, close to a forest. But our last visit was in February, with rain and snow.Menu is good, and quite reasonaby priced. The full 4 course menu is actually quite a bargain. As a first course, my wife had smoked salmon, and I choose "foie gras"; both were wonderfully served. As a main course, we both choose duck, but were somewhat disappointed, not by the food which was OK, but by the service which was too slow; the plates arrived already half cold. It should not have been the case ! Wine list is good...
We went in the evening and had a thoroughly good meal. The atmosphere is wood and stone and very cosy. Staff are welcoming and efficient. There is a few choices of menu which are reasonable as well as a la carte. We took the most expensive menu at 32Euros. The fois gras was excellent and well presented on a slate plate. There was a choice of duck or fish, both of which were good which generous portions. Cheese and choice of desserts completed the menu, again copious portions. The restaurant is divided into several rooms so you don't have an impression that there are lots of people, tables are also well spaced apart. I shall go back sooner rather than later !
We have been many times to the Auberge for the plat du jour and it has always been a delight - both in terms of menu and value for money. So highly recommended.We have also been a few times for dinner in the evening which offers prix fixe and à la carte. There, our experience has been somewhat varied. There is no doubt that the portions are generous and the prices are still attractive. However, sometimes the quality doesn't quite make the grade. So it's ok, but it's not fine dining.Bottom line - as always, you get what you pay for!
Les Vieux Bois is always busy and so one would expect that the food must be good. Well, it is! The décor is sort of country French with some odd high seated tables that actually work once you get used to them.And they are always improving the place with a significant landscaping effort over the last summer.We can recommend the lamb and pork dishes, all of which are prepared in a traditional French country style.

Très deçus par notre diner de samedi soir. Malgré un ambience chalheureux, presentation exquise, et service comme il faut, tous nos plats manquaient de gout. Very disappointed by our visit on Saturday. The atmosphere and service were both good, and the presentation was most artistic. But every dish we ordered was tasteless. Such a pity!
I'm in Divonne on business and instead of heading in to town took TripAdvisor's advice and headed up the hill to the edge of Divonne. And I'm very glad I did. Welcoming and friendly, and just as well I'd arrived early as before long it was bustling. The food was absolutely excellent, I'm not surprised it's so popular.
Happy to say that their recent refurbishment hasn't affected the quality of their food - really good 'à la carte' and a great lunchtime 'menu fixe' of three courses with wine and coffee for €15. Can get a bit noisy, and understandably busy at lunchtimes, but a good place for lunch with friends.
I have been to the Auberge du Vieux Bois three times and each time it has been fantastic. The food is wonderful, portion sizes are great, and service is marvelous. Go and see for yourself!

The restaurant has a charming, chalet like atmosphere. The lunch menu (starter, main and dessert) is very good value for money. It can be full, so it is better to reserve.
Reliably good French food with a wide choice of salads, meat and fish. Service is friendly and the chalet decor is cosy. Good value for money in the Geneva region.
