"Fantastic food but was rushed out within an hour (6-7pm). When you spend a lot on food and wine you don't want to be pressured to leave in such a short time, and on a Thursday! Hope they take this feedback on board as otherwise à nice place to eat."

This place is best if you don't want to commit to a full 8 course at other place. The atmosphere is very inviting and subtly romantic. Pretty great place for a first date i would imagine or Friday night classy drinks. The sommelier definitely knew what he was talking about and the pairings went well with each course. The servers were also very friendly and accommodating. Which is probably why i had such a great time. After our conversation the server brought out my dessert with a birthday candle. Small gesture but this is one of the few examples of their good customer service. The food itself was decent, and quality is in line with what you pay. Surprisingly, as a meat eater, the best me...

Kensington Street is an up and coming food Street in Sydney with a variety of food options. I visited Automata this evening and tried their 5-course set menu. Service was excellent, the team was friendly, affable and helpful. I like how they smile and attend to each and every diner patiently. I have visited several fine dining spots before Automata. I can remember the tasty potato bread with daishi at Ester, the confit trout at Tetsuya's, the Japanese stones at Sepia or the Granny's apple at Lumi. However, I find that there may be nothing at Automata which is memorable. Food is not bad and they were wonderfully prepared. I like how the main dishes were served warm and the dessert is ser...

Automata was great! For the price, I would say that it is one of the best degustation experiences in Sydney. All the dishes were packed full of flavour and very well balanced. Highlight for me would be the sugarloaf cabbage with the mushroom sauce - who knew the humble cabbage could taste so delicious?! My only grumble would be that we were seated on the mezzanine level communal table, and the proximity to your neighbours can be a little awkward. But at $88 per head for such stellar food, it's hard to complain. If you're looking for a place for a special occasion, I would recommend this place. Can't wait to return!

It was quite disappointing. I walked in with high expectations but it really missed the mark in many ways. The food was salty and seemed to follow a limited flavour profile. There were really no standout dishes and it was overall a very average experience. We requested a candle to be lit on one of the dessert dishes (for our friend's birthday), it was agreed upon and they didnt even follow through and simply came out with just the desserts. Will probably not come back regarding the high price that doesnt meet other fine dining experiences.
