Balaton I miss you! My mother and I would frequently have lunch or dinner here and the food was always amazing. My mother being German, the cabbage rolls and schnitzel reminded her of home. The Hungarian dishes, always to die for. The friendly service made us feel like family. Unfortunately I now live 45mins away from CLE and take out is just not a feasible option. I’m happy too see that you have signed a new lease and am patiently waiting to be able to enjoy a meal with my mom there once again soon. <3
A group of eight, including two ethnic Hungarians, had a wonderful experience at the restaurant. The chicken paprikas was exceptional, and the langos was fantastic! I highly recommend starting your meal with the Hungarian platter and the langos to sample some of the new Hungarian dishes. Just keep in mind that reservations are required at least 48 hours in advance, as all dishes are made to order.
The Balaton serves lovely homestyle meals, has a clear passion for sharing their Hungarian heritage, and will leave you feeling welcome and satisfied. The portions are generous, so bring an appetite. The restaurant will not disappoint and is recommended for an evening out with anyone family, friends, grandma, or a date.
All the main courses were excellent. However, the dessert torte we ordered was hard and stale. The service varied depending on which staff member attended to our table. Despite the inconsistency in service and the dessert, the quality of the main dishes made it worth the visit.

What a fantastic dinner experience! The Hungarian food was exceptional, truly the best. This is a genuine family restaurant featuring traditional old-country recipes and warm, attentive service. The owner, Ponti, was a delight to chat with. I will definitely be returning.
