I went on a busy Friday night with a huge group and there was a live performance so it was dizzy and lively. I didn't really pay attention to what was ordered, so when the dishes were handed over to me, I had to try a little of everything I love. These were all family-run dishes, so we picked up a bit from our plate. I started with the Papaya salad, which was so refreshing and delicious. The next round was noodles. I tried their Temple City location and was thrilled to taste their location Rowland Heights. The vibes are definitely different between the two but we just say Rowland Heights is super popping! They put a lot of thoughts on their decor and it stands out from the rest of the Plaza! Love it! I came here on Friday night. I checked out this place for dinner on a Thursday night and I was very impressed by the decorations and live music! The service was also fast and attentive.Our group started off with some mixologist recommended shots, which were Flaming Lamborghini! It's a shot they light on fire and then they pour Thai tea as you drink it which was awesome.The food was awesome with heaping portions! Tom yum soup had a nice sourness to it. The Hainanese chicken was tender and not dry. The crying tiger was not over cooked and had a nice savory marinade. The panang curry was sooo flavorful and had a good amount of spice. That pad see ew was a favorite especially since we got the combination with mixed protein....
I used to be here regularly, but moved away and was not back in a decade. Just came back last weekend and WOW this place is amazing! Atmosphere: Great local vibes still there was a live cover band there Friday night and it was totally jammin! Food area is huge and many local people drink in line while waiting for a table. The food was great! Our table got a variety of dishes, including the Banana Bay Pad thai and fried Hainan chicken, which were the stars in my book. The tampon thai was perfectly fried with a bunch of shrimps. The hainan chicken was super juicy and tasteful on the inside and crsip to perfection on the outside. Service was also top notch! Don't sleep here!

Most people I know enjoy going here late at night for their jello shots. However, they are always busy and lively enough to create a great ambiance/girls night out. Their food is Thai comfort food and they give generous portions. However, what I really appreciate is how they have performers singing and giving the place a fun atmosphere. It's not one of those restaurants that is oddly quiet. Also, the songs that they sing are really relaxing and just help me enjoy taking my time with my meal.
Banana Bay is a classic in Rowland Heights that serves up bomb Thai food in a large setting. They're a great place and suggestion if you have a lot of friends or a large party that is hungry. Prices are reasonable and food comes in decent portions.The crying tiger was smokey and flavorful. The noodle dishes were super tasty and not soggy or clumpy. They were really good.The spicy dishes were also super fire and and full of heart!Their thai ice tea is also really bomb and highly recommended!
You will be completely impressed when walking up to Banana Bay! The decorations are top notch. The ambience is beautiful. They have live music from Thursday to the weekend. The food is really good and the portions are generous. They have really yummy drinks at the bar; I highly recommend the flaming Lamborghini and the Thai tea shots. The classic Thai tea is really good too. I highly recommend the pad ew, papaya salad, seafood salad, Tom Yum soup, Tom Kha and more!
