On August 15, 2019, inspectors from the Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) discovered rodent droppings in a back room at Baronis Pizza, located on Ben Sawyer Boulevard in Mount Pleasant. As a result, the restaurant received a grade of B in the inspection report. The inspection was prompted by a complaint regarding the establishment. Other violations noted included issues with cold holding temperatures, improper date marking for ready-to-eat foods, food stored directly on the floor of the walk-in cooler, organic residue found in the chemical dish machine, and a repeat violation concerning a buildup of greasy food particles on the walls and floors of the cookline.

I asked the guy at the front desk for a pizza delivery recommendation and while he did have a couple fliers from different places, he said that I would be most pleased with the pie from Baroni 's. And he was right. It took 35 minutes to be delivered, but when it arrived it was fresh and still quite hot. Since it was just me, I went with a medium Four Seasons which had broccoli, sun-dried tomatoes, mushrooms, artichokes, and extra cheese. Heaven. The medium is 14 inches and there was enough to go into the fridge for the next day. Strongly recommend!
Since I live within walking distance, I decided to give Baroni's another chance. However, this time, I was told that I couldn't place a to-go order verbally—I had to call it in instead. I was literally inside the restaurant, but the staff refused to take my order. The overall vibe is just strange, and honestly, there are better pizza places in Mount Pleasant. I know a few friends who have had better experiences here, but it just doesn't seem to be the right fit for me.
Last night we tried Baroni's for the first time. We used their online ordering system. It was easy to use and the pizza arrived quickly. The flavor of the pizza was good (especially the sauce) but the crust was way, way too thick to be called Authentic NY Style Pizza. If the crust was a whole lot thinner, it would be so much better. I also didn't care for the sliced meatballs, they seemed to have too much pork in them. Book a table now
Overall, not terrible, but not great. Ordered for pickup and 45 minutes later, it was ready, which was ridiculous seeing as there was barely anyone in the restaurant, like 4 people. The flavor was mediocre, and the quality was about par. The crust was boring and had no flavor or quality texture. If you're dead set on local pizza, go downtown to NYC Pizza. Otherwise, a chain would be a better choice, in my opinion.
Coming from the North East, I have found it a challenge to have decent pizza in the south. This place fits the bill for decent, consistent, delicious pizza! Staff is always friendly and helpful. At this point we have tried several varieties of pizza which were all good and a meatball sub. The meatballs are made in house and are very good! Great for take out on the way home from work!
When my husband and I get carryout pizza, Baroni's is our go-to. We order online, and things are always ready within about 15 minutes. The manager and/or owner could not be more friendly, and the pizza never disappoints. The combo of great service, unbeatable prices, and delicious food has made me a loyal customer. Pro tip: get the garlic knots!
I waited 45 minutes for my order, which cost $38. I received a burnt Stromboli and a pizza that was charred on the bottom, both of which were then crammed into a box that was too small. I can't understand how any restaurant would allow food like this to leave their kitchen. It shows a complete lack of consideration for their customers. Book a table now
For anyone looking for the best New York style pizza in Charleston, Baroni's is the place! Between the actual pizza itself and the service, you can't go wrong.

"I had a wonderful Caesar salad at this restaurant. They also had Impossible meat, which was delicious. The only drawback was that it had a limited menu for ordering at the counter, rather than having a server."
