First time I ever went there, was invited by a friend who told me that the Karaoke was fantastic there.... which it was. The DJ was lively, fun, and very friendly really makes you feel welcome. For starters, we had the Sweet Potato Ravioli, which was a savory-sweet homemade delight—absolutely outstanding! We also tried the Mozzarella Caprese, which was an incredibly generous portion of fresh mozzarella, roasted red peppers, and ripe tomatoes over baby greens dressed with a creamy, garlicky balsamic vinaigrette. It was seriously good!
For dinner, my husband ordered the Veal Parm with Penne and rated it among his top three best veal dishes. I was a little full from my ravioli appetizer, so I chose the Seared Shrimp in Sesame Ginger sauce as an appetizer, paired with the truly amazing Gorgonzola Salad, which was loaded with apples and walnuts and perfectly dressed.

We had wanted to try this place for a while but when we finally did, it was more than a little disappointing. The place is a little too old fashioned, although the building and architecture was great. And the wait staff was friendly and attentive. But when my meal came out it left MUCH to be desired. The salad that came with my entree was literally just a tiny plate of iceberg lettuce and a couple tomato slices. I had ordered the braciole special, and halfway through the meal I noticed a small piece of metal in my mouth. I told and showed the waitress, who was apologetic and understanding. We've visited several times, and while the food is consistently well-prepared, it lacks a touch of creativity. The wine selection, however, requires considerable improvement, as it is quite limited. The spacious bar area, which could have served as a community gathering room, appears to be an enjoyable spot for casual meetings or after-work drinks. Overall, Bart's is a valuable addition to the Matawan area, serving as a reliable option for a satisfying meal.

For our main course, Ivanka had scallops with spinach in a lovely, flavorful sauce. I had the Chicken Monte Carlo, and each bite was a delightful explosion of flavor. We concluded our evening with cappuccinos and dessert. The drinks were excellent, and the house wine was of high quality.
The pricing was fair given the quality of the food and service. The atmosphere was wonderful, as the restaurant is located in a former church, adding to its unique dining experience. If you're looking for a great meal, I highly recommend Barts—you will love it!
This is my go to place after work when i feel like a nice quick dinner and a quiet evening with a friend. The restaurant is actually an old church but is nice and clean and the staff is very friendly and attentive. There is also a bar if you feel like drinking or hanging out. My latest order was calamari as an appetizer, split pea soup and pan fried salmon with broccoli rabe. Everything was fresh and delicious. Add to it some wine and desert and you would want to come back again and again.
Came here for my son's 14th bday. My kids have been ordering off the adult menu since they were 6. I had the francaise, the boy has the salmon berttone, hubs had the Barts special and our daughter had the pasta bolognese. All 4 meals were excellent. Highly recommend.
Love the ambiance in this place! Converted church and they have live music in the bar area. Hostess and servers were attentive and friendly. Some of the food was very good, some was just average. I would try it again just because of the ambience/atmosphere.

Reservation was a joke. Why did we make the reservation if it requires us to wait 1 hr? As Jerry Seinfeld said anyone can take the reservation , key is to hold on to it Very disappointed as my wife and I were looking forward to Valentine 's Day dinner .
