The meal was pleasant enough, but the service was cold-eyed and judgmental - as though ordering food was somehow a waste of the waitress's time. The cursory 'how is everything?' a few minutes after the food was delivered was followed by a prompt departure without waiting for a response.The "barista" made coffee that fouled in the mouth - like the grinds were waiting to settle on my tongue and contaminate my palate with regret. We ordered the pork belly, fish of the day and chicken burger for mains. The pork belly was shockingly disappointing - the two slices of crackling were cold and rubbery, just inedible and they were sitting on top of a white slab of belly fat (about 1 cm thick) which made for rather nauseous after effect, the potatoes accompanying the pork belly was cold. The pork underneath the fat was ok in terms of taste. The fish of the day was coated in soggy batter and the chips were cold. The saving grace was the chicken burger which was nice. Will definitely not be returning.
This is a great location right opposite the beach at Kingston with outside seating if the weather permits (but it didn't today with a max of 9), however seated inside looking at the waves rolling in was a good option.A nice selection of wines by the glass and a reasonable menu for a cafe but not a lot of imagination. My thai fish cakes lacked the thai influence although the sweet potato chips were excellent.Nice comments about the salads and the eggs benedict from others at the tableService was pleasant but could have been a bit more attentive.
I was surprised reading some of the reviews. I went for a late breakfast on a Sunday. The place was reasonably busy but I was asked my coffee order as soon as I was seated and given a menu. Menu options were good and I settled on the breakfast burger. It was fantastic. Great value with two eggs and bacon and spinach and a hash brown. Everything my decadent self desired. The coffee was pretty good and I am a coffee snob. Service was offerred with a smile so perhaps they have listened and learned from the reviews.

Service always friendly, coffee always good (but I do always ask for a hot coffee as I have lactose free milk and they don't like to split the milk). Breakfasts are pretty much always eggs benedict for me and always good!! Gus our Schnauzer is very welcome there outside of course. He usually scores some of our bacon and there is water for the dogs there too.
It would seem that our table of 4 was invisible to service staff as after waiting 15 mins we had to request to have our order taken. We then waited, some would say foolishly, 1 hour to get our meal. When my meal artived it came with the wrong salad - at this point I just gave up! Needless to say there are 4 people will not be back!
Passing through Kingston we popped in for an early dinner . My husband had pork belly and I chose salmon skewers on roast vege salad both meals were beautifully presented and very well priced . Nice atmosphere and friendly staff . Would have liked to try dessert but couldn't fit it in after the generous mains .
Great place for coffee and breakfast with a broad variety of dishes on offer and not your normal everyday breakfast dishes. Service was excellent. Need to book on a weekend and on a cold day do ask for a table away from the front door as it can be a lil chilly there.

We had a lovely lunch after a walk on the stunning Kingston Beach. Hubby had a burger. Good size and well cooked with plenty of sides. Mine was an all day brekkie. Perfectly cooked eggs and the bread was really nice. Coffee could have been a tad hotter.
