We stayed here last night and had dinner in the restaurant. The rooms are old fashioned in decor but spotlessly clean and perfect for one night. The restaurant has a fantastic view over the valley to Lake Garrabit and the viaduct. The food was delicious, portion sizes were just right, great service, nice wine selection. We had a cold crayfish and king prawn salad and scallops to start, followed by medallions of pieces of veal with THE best cheesy creamed potato I've ever had, a lovely cheese trolley and then a long list of deserts. Was here with the family for lunch when we lived in a local campsite. It is truly authentic French and the food is amazing. No English is spoken, but that simply adds to the feeling of the place. I never tasted a child's meal for the kids. If only my 5 and 3 years old appreciated fine kitchen. It was amazing. Our net of truffade (fried potatoes, bacon served in a cream sauce with local cold ham) were also amazing and the speed it was all served was added to only the quality. Very recommended.
The menu is pleasing, but probably the worst truffade we had from dozens of restaurants that we tried in the last 6 weeks (small part and burnt potatoes). The other dishes on the menu we tried were not made with fresh ingredients. So disappointing food as a whole and our waiter was nice, but completely indescribable, how to use a table looked so rough that even outside teenagers made a comment
