It was interesting, first we are seated then the hostess proceeds to take our order like she is the server. 15 mins later our actual server shows up, no problem! This was probably our 8th time there so we order the same dishes most times. We got the fried rice and it was soo salty we didn’t even finish it. Ofcourse we did not send it back, just decided to get the check and leave. When the server brought us our check she tells us she’s going to wait at the table until we are ready to pay. It was very awkward. I guess we looked like we were gonna dine and dash. I’m not sure.
Sadly the quality of food and service has changed from the opening of Beetlecat. It was one of my favorite restaurants in town and after our experience there last night, I don’t think we will be returning. After ordering a dozen $150) of oysters, we were given 8 crackers and a tiny dollop of cocktail sauce and mignonette. Not even enough to use on the 12 oysters. They had run out of lemon too. Seems like Ford Fry has been too busy working on his restaurant empire and forgotten about one of his classics. Sad!
My friends and I had an amazing experience today at Beetlecat for the Donut brunch. We started by ordering all the donuts available and sharing and tasting them. They were so fresh, perfect amount of glazes, toppings, and flavors, 1/2 of us ordered donuts to go too. We also ordered cocktails and a pitcher of the fuzzy navel mimosas. The entrees were so good too and our server was attentive and walked us thru the menu. We had a memorable time and will return next month!
The food was good and generally everything wasn’t bad but we first went on the downstairs patio and moved inside because of mosquitoes. However they were also inside too. When we asked to go upstairs the server just brought over a citronella candle. My girlfriend and I bought got bit by mosquitoes while dining so that sucked. That was my only complaint. Suggest inside upstairs or maybe the upstairs patio is good. Downstairs just don’t be by the patio door I guess.

Ford Fry needs to incorporate more veggies in his dishes! We tried the trout ceviche, redfish, and collar fish, which were ALLLL delicious! But small portions and only jicama slaw available as veggie. Excellent service and loved sitting outside. Just could be more complete dishes for such a high price.
We had a great time there. Destiny, our server, was excellent. The food was amazing. So worth it to go during Oyster Happy Hour. Just came back from a road trip in Maine and their lobster roll was one of the best I’ve had! It can compete with the best of them!
Lobster roll was fantastic…small roll but lots of lobster. A little expensive for a sandwich but it was so delicious we didn’t mind the expensive. Service was terrific! Will definitely go back.
Our experience was underwhelming. Lobster roll came out with shells still attached and very cold.
