My family and I will never return to this location. Although the food tasted old and the beverages were subpar we planned on staying to celebrate my Mother’s birthday. The Manager on duty at the time was extremely rude and condescending. We simply asked for my Mom’s non-alcoholic beverage to be exchanged. My Mother asked a number of times and no thing was done about it. The server was new; we understood and remained patient. Time passed and we asked the manger about it and he said plainly ask your server. Time passed again and I excused myself from the table to speak directly with the Manager. Other locations are better, in service and overall how the food tastes. The reason why we came to this one was because it was the midpoint for everyone. Service was a bit slow. Soups, salads, apps, drinks, and food were all served at the same time! Chef was not enthusiastic and barely talked. Did 1-2 basic tricks, and thats it, rolled on out. The majority of the group were first-time customers, and this location did not make a good impression. I've been to other locations, and those experiences were way better. Wont be returning to this one. What a mediocre experience this Benihanas is performing..
The restaurant is very dirty and not well kept. Huge stains on windows, that can be seen from far away. Plates were really dirty. In my party of 4, one plate had “brown stuff” still sticking to it. One toilet was clogged and another was missing coat hooks in the stall. I am surprised that such a dirty and not well kept restaurant is in Short Hills, NJ.
All time favorite, Benihana at this location is not what it used to be. Service is lacking and inefficient. Staff walks around with your food for ten minutes, bringing it to the wrong table before figuring where it belongs.

Brian, our server, was the best service I have ever had at this location. We also have Pablo as our chef and he too was excellent. The experience is a fun one!
I had low expectations but my son requested Benihana for his birthday. He enjoyed the best seat for the meal prep and his ramune soda very much.
No heat at all, even with these freezing days. When asked, an employee replied that the heat doesn't work in the entire eating food area!
I was very let down they messed up the order and the chef lied saying he didn’t the manager was not helpful at all.
