I visited Benkay many times during the past years when ever l visit Düsseldorf and always sat at teppanyaki table. Last visit was on thursday september We entered the place around o clock . out of teppanyaki table was...full and only one cook was serving for all those tables. Besides cooking he was picking up everything he needed from kitchen himself !!! We almost sat one hour with the hope of another cook or at least some help to one and only chef would arrive . we asked to one of the waiters if we would be served in the next one hour....as it was pm and the place close at after checking with the kitchen he said that he would not quarantee to serve us within the next one hour !!! This meant...

I have been in Dusseldorf while visiting the boat show and remembered we have been in Nikko hotel and have a good sushi dinner with friends a few years back . I reserve in the morning and when we come there they mixed my reservation...and it was already looking they didn't have any more space . I ordered a eur course dinner and asked for an extra teka maki . Besides we had to wait min before someone came and min to get a glass of water after min the waiter come and told us the manager sad we can not get the teka maki's . I told them to speak again to the manager as the sushi bar is meters away and if he can't i will go and pick it up myself . Eventually after another min the maki finally cam...

Staff is very friendly. Waitresses were dressed traditionally but overall overpriced and low quality food. We had the Benkay teppanyaki menu which is the one with the Wagyu beef but were somewhat disappointed considering the price tag per person. We think the quality of...the meat was below average. Our gram Wagyu steak was chewy and far from tender. We feel you are simply better off taking a less expensive menu, you will not get the Wagyu beef but the meat you will be getting will be much more satisfying. The teppanyaki room has no external windows which is depressing. Decoration is equally depressing. There is carpet on the floor which was full of stains and far from hygienic. Don't put on...

Benkay could be superb place...located in the Nikko hotel right in the Japanese district it has everything what it takes to be a world-class Japanese...authentic chefs...authentic design...authentic dishes...authentic staff...I tried their signature Benkay menu...most of it was really superb...even so good that it might deserve...stars in another rating system...BUT well some of was not so good and thats not because of the dishes but because it wasn't all that fresh...now I know that this was a bad day, that it was an exception....I know that -judging from everything else- Benkay would almost always have a good day but well in order to be world-class you simply cannot afford to have these da... Excellent menu and cooking culinary experience, in the Japanese style and tradition. Perfectly designed and executed menu on the cooking table, wonderfull combination of fish and vegetables. A very good restaurant, despite slightly less excellent that the same named Benkay of Paris Nikko's hotel...near Eiffel tower. As well relatively expensive, but this is the standard for this high quality japanese food.

Perhaps my experience is influenced by the fact that I myself worked at Hotel Nikko, but when I first had eaten in Benkay (if I was no longer there), it was excellent. It was a show and incredible food together, with very friendly service. Of course you count a price for the experience that I would not even pay so, but for special occasions I can only recommend it

The entries were ok (sushi) but just...measured. The main dish was very nice and served along the cooking show. The dinner itself lasted hours approx...it was ok since we were among colleagues but... The final surprise was the bill, honestly very far to be...fair but, luckly it was not my duty that time...

I went to Benkay end of November when I was in Dusseldorf for an exhibition and was looking for a Japanese restaurant. It was a good overall experience even if the menu was a bit small; on the other side, the service was very good Book a table now
