Good crispy battered fish! Chips were nothing special but everything was done in a dedicated fryer so it was safe. Made a reservation before eating with a note about being celiac. Staff made sure I knew gluten-free menu items and their safety precautions. Waitress was really helpful in double checking which drinks were gluten-free. The restaurant was also really good in accommodating a dairy allergy for my friend.
The best restaurant experience I’ve had so far (2 months diagnosed). Excellent food choices. Great tasting haddock, chips and mushy peas. Staff knowledgeable and GF vinegar and brown sauce provided. Waiter said he isn’t GF but always chooses the GF haddock. My non GF partner tried my haddock and said it tasted better than his! 10/10 recommend.
It was a few times and never had a problem. You have a separate fryer, so there are options for the fish and the chips. Gf sauces are offered, portions are large and employees are worth knowing about gf. The place is always humming, so I recommend booking in advance, although there is a waiting area where drinks can be ordered while you wait.
Some of the best fish and chips that my husband and I ever had we were from Wisconsin and had a basket or even in our day. I couldn't believe how the accusation was for my inquiries. They brought out GF Chippy sauce and vinegar. Even asked if I had a heavy allergy, only in case they take extra caution. Absolutely wonderful. Book a table now
My family and extended family went here a while back and had such a great experience. It was fun to have the non celiac family members enjoy their food as much as the celiac ones. Our family visiting said that this was the best food they had the whole trip. Highly recommend! Definitely make reservations though!
You employees know clearly what they do the menu is clearly marked and they put gluten-free sauces on the table as soon as you order. The fish and chips are huge portions and delicious! The place is very busy so a reservation is not a bad idea.
They were great! Even got me bottled cider because of cross contamination in the tap. Gluten free fish and chips were great! I had no reaction and I am very sensitive to any kind of wheat cross contamination.

They offer gluten-free fish chips (including for delivery), of which I did not get sick – but I recommend City restaurants dough over Bertie’s, as this was somewhat soft.
