Traditional teas are served with delicate bone china at this restaurant, which exudes a beautiful and authentic 1950s ambiance. While the menu doesn't offer many vegan options, I inquired and was pleased to enjoy a delicious Beetroot Chutney and salad sandwich, as well as a vegan scone with dairy-free butter and a generous amount of jam. Bessie's offers traditional teas served in vintage fine bone china, with a charming 1950s ambiance. While there aren't many vegan options on the menu, I was able to enjoy a delicious beetroot chutney and salad sandwich, as well as a vegan scone with non-dairy butter and plenty of jam. They don't have vegan cakes regularly, but sometimes offer vegan anzacs. For vegetarians, the toasted cheese scones looked tempting. Bessie's is a great spot to meet non-vegan friends, and they can also accommodate a vegan version of their afternoon tea with advance booking. Just a few doors down is a modern plant-based cafe for those looking for more vegan options.

This was our first time visiting this restaurant and we were impressed. The lovely waitress provided us with an explanation of the specials and there was an extensive list of teas and other delights to choose from. My partner ordered the Kentish huffkin with coal cheese, and I had a cheese dish. We finished with a cream tea for him and ice cream for me. The food was delicious and we will definitely be back. I have already recommended this place to all my friends and I highly recommend it to you as well.
