This restaurant is a rarity in the sense that they offer their own beer (I'd recommend the "Helles" and not so much the all too light in taste "Dunkles"). The dishes are quite normal Franconian ones, so nothing new there. We had the "Haxe", which was excellent, and "Spanferkelrolle" which was overcooked and dry. So I would recommend selecting dishes that get better with longer cooking time (e.g., Haxe, Schäuferle) or dishes that are made right before serving (e.g., Schnitzel). Something in between may be overcooked, as the earlier reviews also mention. Still, the Haxe here was the best dish I ate in Pottenstein during our stay. And the Helles beer is very drinkable after a long hike.
We were a group of five on a short trip to shop in Muggendorf. A couple of miles down the road in Pottenstien is where Brauerei Gasthof Mager is located. We have eaten here several times over the last five years or so. That's a testament to how much we like both the setting and food here. This is a nice place to eat and have some local beer. We had a variety of meals and shared a cheese plate and gulash. It was a good warm meal on a chilly afternoon. The food is good for a reasonable price. The setting is interesting with typical Bavarian Christmas decorations. I'm sure we'll be back on our next visit to Germany!

The atmosphere here was pleasant that we were in town for a certain event and knew that things would fill quickly. Our meals are ordered and served within minutes. I think the scavenger took the longest. Everyone seemed to enjoy his beer and food.

Food was tasting extremely bad. Beer was also with low quality. Meet was old stock. Overall experience was terrible.
