Did not realise how long it has been between 'combos' ... "cheese on top please and also can you please replenish the cordial" ...till we visited 'Bill and Tony's' tonight to have the usual 'quick bite; our regular dine for over 30 years; whether it was a work lunch break, after a hectic day of weekend shopping or as tonight... "off to see a show" as I told the young waitress after we were seated. Sad to report that the icon of Stanley Street, 'Bill and Tony's' is not the 'Bill and Tony's' of yesteryear any more.Arrived at 6.50pm to be greeted at the door by a rather overwhelmed 'matre de' who did have us seated in the usual record time on the balcony. It was great to be back!! The place was...

My father always took us here for dinner when we were kids, I took my kids here and they take their friends and girlfriends here... that speaks for itself.... I love it - 3 generations love it.... everyone I speak to knows about it and has been there...it's an institution.... it's now called a guppy place to go.... I think of it as a second home. The Restrauant upstairs has had minor changes to the menu over the past 55 years that I've been going, but my favourite would be the veal schnitzel with cheese combination - the free carafe of orange cordial and sliced Vienna bread is great...love th home style cooking, clean, very reasonable.Downstairs the cafe serves the best coffees and cakes etc...
Went in, maybe around 8pm for dinner. Went upstairs, seated at nice table and given bread and orange juice, so far so good. However, when the menus arrived, I noticed that, not only was there a very limited choice of pizzas, but they weren't available for dinner, only lunch. Asked the waitress, said they could make a pizza but it wouldn't be eligible for the combination option (main with a pasta side). Instead, I had to have a pizza with fries. On the one hand, very impressed by staff efforts but disappointed by inability to have pizza as a main. Also, pizza with fries isn't really a good Italian experience. Pizza and fries arrived, about 10 mins after the rest of my party received their mea...
I have been a customer at Bill and Tony's for over 30 years but last night was my last meal there. It was just different! Not many people dining, service was slow, pasta not the usual tasty meal, vegetarian lasagne with a piece of meat, cheese on the schnitzel was clearly 4 squares, tough osso bucco and the table beside us sending a meal back with a bonus hair. Farewell old friend it's a shame our kids cannot continue the tradition. Book a table now
I had lunch here today with my family. It's affordable traditional Italian with an emphasis on pasta and mains rather than pizza. The service was excellent and the food was reasonable quality relative to the price. It's a Sydney institution for its history rather than culinary excellence. I recommend the lasagne, which was the highlight of the meals we ordered
Our family came here for coffee and cake downstairs and the kids voted it the best Hot Chocolate Ever!! Service was fantastic as it was a busy Saturday morning and our second visit Sunday afternoon was just as good. The Pin Ball machine was a big hit too.
We eat here a few times a year. The food is really good, prices are low. The staff are friendly and the service is great. The coffee, cakes and gelzto downstairs are excellent.
easy place, nice and friendly staff, food is.. ok, but for the price u pay, it worths. Definitely an old school Italian place worth to visit to feel the OLD vibes Book a table now
Delicious and fast! The chicken parmigiana was so good There was eggplant underneath the cheese and it was on top of oils providing wonderful flavor.
I met a friend there and not sure if we just chose wrong, but neither of us were that impressed with the food.

"I was satisfied with the food. Burgers are between $14.90 and $15.90. The drinks are more expensive than other places, and the free Wi-Fi is slow and stops working intermittently."
