The sushi menu felt a bit limited, but that wasn’t a major issue. It seemed to play it safe, omitting some of my favorite more adventurous options. I was amused when they asked if I really wanted the uni. As for the fish quality, I was pleasantly surprised. The uni tasted fresh and local, and I ended up ordering two servings. Good uni has been hard to find this past year, so I was thrilled to have decent quality here. The Japanese scallops were delicious as well, though I wished the chef would provide more explanations, as it seems that’s not common practice with customers. The salmon didn’t stand out to me. I was hoping to find salmon belly on the menu, but it wasn’t available. The toro wa...

First visit and I'd have to say it was a great experience. A couple more times at this high level and I may have to move them up to 5 stars, but that needs to be earned. It's a small space so there was a little wait, but it was a Friday night and that can be expected. Only frustration I had was that they don't have their menu posted anywhere online so I had to go in to make sure there was something my son could eat. He's allergic to seafood so it's a concern at a sushi spot. I had the omakase sushi chef selection and it was very good. The raw fish was excellent and I think I know what sushi items I would select next time. My son had tonkatsu don combo which came with a sashimi salad so I ate...

I highly recommend Bistro Anju to anyone who loves sushi. Located in a strip mall in the Aliso Viejo shopping center, the restaurant has limited seating at the sushi bar but plenty of tables available. Chef Hideki is a respectful and reserved individual dedicated to achieving the perfect balance in his dishes, serving authentic sushi with generous portions of top-quality fish. He communicates with his staff in Japanese, which some may misinterpret as harsh yelling, but I’m just there to enjoy the food rather than speculate on his conversations with the female servers. Most patrons at the sushi bar are regulars, which is a reassuring sign. Chef Hideki occasionally prepares off-menu dishes, an...

I wanted to support a local Asian business this past weekend during the stay-at-home order and went with Bistro Anju because I was craving sushi. I went with their Sushi Omakase which is about $30. You can order through Doordash or directly with them for pick-up. Since I just live around the corner, I opted to go to the restaurant and order takeout. The restaurant is closed for dine-in customers but you can still order for takeout. The sushi omakase comes with salad and miso soup. It was really filling and hit the spot for me. If you have a hankering for sushi, do yourself a favor and go order from them. The sushi is made to order and fresh. Cheers! Book a table now

Visit 1 Got fried pork chunks with egg for lunch and it was just weird. More egg than pork, and mostly rice/egg. Limited flavor in pork. On the plus side the ice green tea was good. Visit 2 Got teriyaki chicken bowl. Mmmmm....rice, shitty chicken with multiple cartilage ey pieces, and precisely 1 piece of broccoli and 2 half baby carrots . I kid you not. Thanks for the generous veggie portions guys!!!! What a bunch of ass clowns. Conclusion DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU WANT ANYTHING OTHER THAN SUSHI! You'd think it'd be hard to F up a teriyaki chicken bowl but you'd be wrong.

The salmon sashimi was good. I ordered salmon collar and it wasn't a collar. It was three parts of what may have been a collar bbI've ordered collar many times and it was BEYOND disappointing. There was no a/c in there and we sweated through it all. You can't sit at the sushi bar and order an entree. What? Seriously? We are only giving these stars for Cynthia who was amazing. I wanted to order steak. Didn't have it. I wanted pork belly. Didn't have it. Wow!

This small restaurant was a great surprise. It 's tucked away next to a tanning salon and gas station, but overall the food and dining experience was solid. The restaurant does not have that many seats, so it 's a little tricky if you have more than 4 people joining you. I ordered the dinner chirashi and it was well prepared. the fish was great! I would definitely come back to try more of the fusion style dishes if I 'm in the area again soon.

I was a bit surprised by some complaints, such as the inability to order a steak or pork belly. Such grievances seem rather petty to me. This is a dedicated sushi restaurant, after all. I wouldn’t go to a Brazilian steakhouse and get upset if they don’t have dim sum, just as I wouldn’t expect a kickboxing gym to offer ballroom dance classes. All in all, I highly recommend this place. It’s the real deal. Book a table now

I'm a big fan of this location. I would consider myself a regular. The Chef's here are talented and I've never been disappointed with the quality in sushi. Service sometimes on the other hand are hit and miss. Could use a little increase in attention to detail and attentiveness.
